How one man's investment paid off big time!
By JUDY KILGORE

Many of you know I was well into my middle age years before I finally found my little niche in life here in the newspaper business. And, strangely enough, it was right here in this building, nearly 20 years ago, just a couple of rooms down the hall, where I first started my new careeras receptionist and advertising secretary for the old Fayette Sun. Even more strange is the fact that I also did religion newsbriefs, if you willexactly what I'm doing now, and from exactly the same source, your bulletins and newsletters. My career has truly gone full circle, hasn't it?

The Age of Stupid

Now I know why my father was so tough on me when I was growing up. I used to think it was to make me strong for the times of adversity I would face in my life. Or, maybe more fitting, it was to keep me humble and honest during times of prosperity, which seem to test our character to even a greater degree.

Letters to the Editor

Keep those cards on big boxes coming in

Is it over? Yes, at least, that's what the Peachtree City Council wants you to believe, based on its 3-to-2 vote to permit the Wal-Mart "big box" at its Nov. 2 meeting.

13-year-old asks, What next after Home Depot, Wal-Mart?

Tennant to PTC citizens: Don't get discouraged

Fellow citizens, each of you was kind enough to send me an e-mail stating your opposition to the proposed Wal-Mart on Highway 54 West across from Planterra Ridge. There was a packed house at the council meeting last night, and if you were there, you saw what happened.

Mayor, council ignored citizens' wishes

I am absolutely dumbfounded that the Wal-Mart SuperCenter was passed by our mayor and two of our city council members. Do these people actually live in Peachtree City? Certainly not if they would allow big-box stores like Wal-Mart (and Home Depot) into our wonderful, unique city.

Let council find attorney who will stand up for PTC

Councilman Dan Tennant, thanks for your good fight. Do not stop now. What other steps can we take to recapture our city away from the developers, such as PCDC (sorry, I mean Pathway and Mr. Black)?

PTC we've known is gone

It is my understanding, having newly arrived in Peachtree City, that your city council has approved the building of a Home Depot and a Wal-Mart to be located on a heavily trafficked two-lane highway that spans a railroad track. This highway will not be improved to four lanes with left-hand turn lanes because funds will not be awarded because Georgia is not in compliance with the Clean Air Act. But the governing body has spit in the eye of this law and the will of the people and said building will proceed anyway.

Last-minute PTC deal raises many questions

It's odd that following a recent series of articles from the AJC regarding how homes in Peachtree City and Fayette County are the hottest tickets in the Metro-Atlanta area, that the City Council gave the go-ahead for four big box stores (including the possible big box ordinance exemptions).

What happened to vision of PTC?

My family moved to Peachtree City a year ago because it is a wholesome, safe, family-oriented community. Crime is low, the sense of community is strong, and Peachtree City is just a great place to raise your kids. At least it used to be.
