'Lights, camera, action' at Monarch Village

Monarch Village, the 440-acre master-planned community in Stockbridge, was recently used as a backdrop for a children's television program that will be aired in 425 schools across Georgia, as well as many other classrooms across the nation.

"Grandpa's Garage" is a distance learning program which targets third and fourth graders with the goal of getting them excited about science and nature.

Monarch Village will be featured in one of the 32 episodes produced for the series. The theme of the Monarch Village episode is "Living Things," and it follows the seven member cast as they venture throughout the community to learn about Monarch butterflies in their natural setting.

Turner Learning choose Monarch Village for this shoot because of the abundance of Monarch butterflies and the site's natural surroundings provided an ideal backdrop for the episode.

"Grandpa's Garage" is produced by Turner Learning, the educational division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., in association with Teacher Universe, an educational curriculum-based company in San Francisco.
