PTC Flash has runners in last Saturday's PTC Classic

PTC Flash athletes competed in the 21st PTC Classic 5K and 15K races this Saturday, Oct. 12, here in Peachtree City. There were 31 athletes who competed in the 5K (3.1 miles). Amazingly, nine of them were 8 and under, running almost three times the normal race distance of 1.24 miles. Two team members braved the longer 15K race (9.3 miles). The race featured 2,400 runners of various ages who travel to Peachtree City for this grand running event.

SCAT wins first meet of new season

Southern Crescent Aquatic Team took top honors at the Carrollton Bluefins Fall Classic during its first meet of the new short course season. Swimming against five other regional teams, the SCAT girls took first place overall, while the boys finished second.

Many halloween activities in the area to give you goosebumps

Halloween is a little over two weeks away and the activities have already begun. There are several local events going on through halloween, as well as some more regional events that are guaranteed to give you the heebie-jeebies.

Coweta mother and son team up with murder mystery comedy

Tammy Waldrop and her son, Joey, are fans of the television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." When Clayton College and State University had a contest for new murder mysteries, the Waldrops spoofed "Buffy" and came up with "Buff the Vampire Slayer." Their play won the contest, the drama department at CCSU put it on and it was a successful show.

Fayetteville residents write and direct 'Letters to FDR'

The Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation (RWSIR) is celebrating its 75th anniversary this month and one of the key events of the celebration is the production of an original play called "Letters to FDR," written, produced and directed by LaGrange College graduates and Fayetteville residents Nylsa Dunbar and Carrie Akins.

CCSU announces plans to build theater

In an outdoor ceremony held in early October, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences Dr. John Kohler, in conjunction with Clayton State Theater Director Dr. Larry Corse, announced plans for the University to build a new theatre. The official building site and construction start-date have yet to be announced.

Fayette County is one of the most married counties in Georgia; that is, Fayette has one of the higher percentages of its population married compared to other counties. That's one reason it's too costly for single people to live here.

Our own Judge Paschal English was the guest emcee for Dennis Edwards and the Temptation Review who played to an enthusiastic full house. Smoking danger still rampant in PTC; consider smoking ban

Like California, New York and Florida are now considering smoking bans. This is an important issue for all Americans because (like so many of today's problems) it is about the balance between conflicting rights. People have the right to smoke but people also have the right to protect themselves by breathing air free of the dangers found in the smoker's wastes.

Chambliss a foe of taxes
