PTC eyes industrial park land for stores, 124 homes By JOHN MUNFORD
At its regular meeting Thursday night, the Peachtree City City Council will consider a rezoning request for a 124-home subdivision with two commercial outparcels on the south end of the city in a proposal that includes the realignment of Rockaway Road. Council is also slated to discuss the possibility of adding nighttime driving restrictions for 15-year-olds who are now allowed to drive golf carts unsupervised. Also, Mayor Steve Brown wants council to consider requiring cart owners to carry liability insurance on their golf carts. The residential rezoning request is for a 125-acre tract, only 37 acres of which would be used for construction. The property is currently zoned industrial, but a residential use is indicated on the city's land use plan. The two commercial outparcels would straddle either side of the newly aligned Rockaway Road, which would link to Ga. Highway 74 south at the current traffic signal for Holly Grove Road. The Peachtree City Planning Commission has recommended the rezoning be approved.
