Not good
that sheriff gets all confiscated money
Re: Slow down and leave one of state's best sheriffs alone. This is response to Gary Walker's letter. It is apparent Gary Walker did not read my letter. For the record, I did not get stopped for speeding by a deputy. As a matter of fact, I haven't received a traffic citation in over 20 years. I agreed with County Commissioner Dunn that purchasing a helicopter by the sheriff was irresponsible and should have been fully coordinated with the commissioners. The money confiscated by the sheriff should not be used exclusively by the sheriff, but placed in the county treasure. The sheriff is a county elected office. I stand by my belief that the sheriff has too much power. If the Georgia constitution authorized the office of sheriff, then it's time to reevaluate the amendment and change it accordingly. If the sheriff would redirect the traffic patrol to the county, he wouldn't need to hire any additional people. If the only service the sheriff can give to Peachtree City or Fayetteville is traffic enforcement, then it is not needed and can be directed elsewhere. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. The sheriff may be the most experienced in the state. However, that doesn't mean I have to blindly agree with everything he does.
