Maybe Carter should reconsider this 'prize'

House supports use of force on Iraq

Last week, the House of Representatives passed by a vote of 296-133, H. J Res. 114 which authorizes President George W. Bush to use force against Iraq to bring that country into compliance with U.N. Security Council resolutions and to protect the national security of the United States.

Southside plan makes us question motives

[Our] family has been residing in Fayette County for over 16 years. We chose Fayette County for many reasons but mostly because of the following: Small town appeal with a slower pace, great place to raise a family, great schools, neighbors and family with the same desires.

Needed: 4th grade teacher to resolve silly PTC disputes

This an open call to all of the excellent elementary school teachers in Fayette County. The citizens of Peachtree City are in desperate need of a person who can resolve disagreements between fourth graders disguised as politicians.

Many helped prepare 1st amphitheater show

Our community welcomed an exciting new venue with the inaugural concert held at the Villages Amphitheater on Sept. 28. Our own Judge Paschal English was the guest emcee for Dennis Edwards and the Temptation Review who played to an enthusiastic full house. However, the enduring star of the evening was the new facility.

Smoking danger still rampant in PTC; consider smoking ban

Like California, New York and Florida are now considering smoking bans. This is an important issue for all Americans because (like so many of today's problems) it is about the balance between conflicting rights. People have the right to smoke but people also have the right to protect themselves by breathing air free of the dangers found in the smoker's wastes.

Cleland's courage can't overcome his bad judgment

Max Cleland is a good fellow whose courage cannot be questioned, but whose judgment certainly can.

Chambliss a foe of taxes

The Saxby Chambliss for U.S. Senate is the most important race for Georgia and America. Our president needs a Republican-controlled Senate in order to get legislation passed and his conservative appointees confirmed to the Supreme Court.
