Bank of Georgia announces promotions The Bank of Georgia is pleased to announce one new officer and promotions of three current employees. "We are delighted with the growth of The Bank of Georgia and attribute our success to our great employees and loyal customers. We will continue to put the needs of our customers and local community first," said Pat Shepherd, President and CEO. Karen Sones has joined The Bank of Georgia as Assistant Vice President of Deposit Operations. Karen and her husband, Charly moved from Texas ten years ago and love living in Georgia. They have five-year-old twin boys, Christian and Christopher. "I am excited about being part of The Bank of Georgia and look forward to working with the employees of this bank to serve our customers and the community," said Sones. Susan K. Smith has been promoted to Banking Officer and Branch Manager of the Fayetteville Office. She will be responsible for the overall operations of the branch including supervising the tellers and customer service representatives. "We are pleased to have Susan further her banking career and know that she will do a great job," said Mickey Godwin, Executive Vice President. Smith is married to Greg and they have two children Stephanie and Hannah. They are members of Crossroads Church. "It's great being a charter employee and see how the bank has grown. I look forward to the future of this bank," said Smith. Kathy Yellina has been promoted to Banking Officer and Branch Manager of the new Main Office located on Westpark Drive in Peachtree City. Yellina is active in the community as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, past Board member for the American Heart Association and Co-Chairman for March of Dimes Walk for the bank. She and her husband Paul, members of Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, have two grown children and one granddaughter. "I am very excited to be part of the team opening our new Main Office and look forward to my position as Branch Manager," said Yellina. Charter employee Kimberly Freeman Higgins has been promoted to Compliance Officer. It is Higgins' job to ensure that the bank complies with all state and federal regulations, as well as training and the writing of policy and procedures as needed. Higgins received her BBA in Accounting from Clayton College & State University and has worked in banking for 11 years.
