SCAT wins first meet of new season

Southern Crescent Aquatic Team took top honors at the Carrollton Bluefins Fall Classic during its first meet of the new short course season. Swimming against five other regional teams, the SCAT girls took first place overall, while the boys finished second.

SCAT relay teams took first place in every age category. A number of SCAT swimmers finished the day with state or sectional qualifying swims and personal best times. In total team points SCAT finished second to the host team, Carrollton Bluefins.

"We had an excellent start with a great effort, and our swimmers showed a lot of SCAT pride," head coach Jamey Myers said.

The team traveled to Carrollton on a chartered bus. Myers said that this allowed the older swimmers to be paired with younger kids to help them during their first meet experience.

"It was great watching the older athletes mentor the younger ones while gaining more insight into their own swimming by giving back," Myers said.
