Johnson named rector of N.C church Former Fayette County resident, the Rev. Father Mark Johnson, has been named the new rector (senior pastor) of the Church of St. Peter the Fisherman in Wilmington, N.C. Johnson has been serving as assistant rector for the congregation for more than 14 months. Prior to assuming the ministry in North Carolina, Johnson served as curate for Christ the King Church in Peachtree City and, at the same time, served as vicar, or home missions pastor, to the Church of the Good Shepherd in Milledgeville. Before his ordination as a priest in 1996, Johnson was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and served as an associate minister of Sharpsburg's Trinity Fellowship. While he was in Peachtree City, Johnson served as a law enforcement chaplain for the Peachtree City Police Department and was honored for his work prior to his move to North Carolina. In addition to his work in Wilmington, Johnson also shepherds a new congregation which meets on Sunday evenings in Raleigh. Johnson is scheduled to be installed as the rector of St. Peter's on Sunday morning, Oct. 20, by the Most Rev. Dale F. Howard, Archbishop of the Southeast Province of the Charismatic Episcopal Church. |
