Halloween is a little over two weeks away and the activities have already begun. There are several local events going on through halloween, as well as some more regional events that are guaranteed to give you the heebie-jeebies.

There will be a haunted house at Dixieland in Fayetteville open nightly through Nov. 3. Admission is $8. The house will be open from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m.-midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and 2-10 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds from the haunted house will benefit the American Cancer Society and the All Children's Playground in Peachtree City.

Newnan will also have its share of spooks with the attractions Horror Hill and Booger Woods. Horror Hill is a 30-45-minute guided walk along a trail filled with monsters, aliens clowns and more. If you survive Horror Hill, you and your group can take a hearse ride out to Booger Woods which puts patrons in the dark and has them confront some of their fears. Admission to Horror Hill is $10 and admission to Booger Woods is an additonal $5. For more information, visit www.horrorhill.com.

Newnan will also be the site of spirit strolls presented by the Newnan-Coweta Historical Society. They will offer tours at 7 and 9 p.m. Oct. 19 and 26. The tours dicuss some of the town's ghost stories. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for children. Phone 770-251-0207 for more information.

The Peachtree City Recreation Department will present a Halloween Festival featuring the Caverns of Kedron at the Kedron Fieldhouse on Friday, Oct. 25 from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 26 from 1-9 p.m. Along with guided tours to the haunted house there will be a variety of games and treats. There will be an additonal fee for most of the games and admission to the haunted house is $5. Phone 770-631-2525.

The town of Fayetteville will have its pumpkin walk Friday, Oct. 25 with judging from 5-6 p.m. Tyrone will have its pumpkin walk Oct. 31 starting at 8:30 a.m.

Of course, people can leave the area for thrills and chills. Netherworld Haunted House returns with scares at the Georgia Antique Center in Norcross. There are two haunted houses available on the premises, Inner Sanctum and the House of Creeps in 3D. Netherworld is open every night through Nov. 3. Admission is $13 for Inner Sanctum or $20 for both. Phone 404-608-2484 or visit www.fearworld.com.

Six Flags is also back with a slew of Halloween oriented fun with Fright Fest. In addition to some of the best thrill rides in the world, Six Flags also has two haunted houses on the premises, Fearman's Manor and Carnival of Chaos. Visitors also enter a game called Fearanoia when they enter the park. Each person is given a tag to put somewhere on the outside of their clothes. Bodytaggers walk around the park and if they approach you and ask for your tag you must give it to them. If you survive the day with your tag still intact, you could win a variety of prizes.

Fright Fest is open weekends through Nov. 1. The park is open from 6-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and 12-8 p.m. Sunday. There is an extra charge for admission to the haunted houses with a discount before 5 p.m. Visitors can save $12 on general park admission by purchasing their tickets at Publix.

This is just a sampling of some of the haunted attractions in the area. Be sure to keep your eyes open for more spooky places to visit this Halloween season.
