By REV. JOHN HATCHER

For those
of you who can, remember when Santa Claus brought tons of CBs from the
North Pole to distribute to us adults for Christmas? Anyone who was someone
had to have a CB radio so we could say, "Breaker one-nine, what's

almost 25 years ago. I mean everybody just had to have his or her own
CBthat is, Citizens Ban Radio.

How

Just
shut up
By BILLY
MURPHY
Laugh Lines
I want to take a
break from my Christmas columns and shoot from the heart and write from
the hip. I have never liked the rudeness of the word "shut up,"
I much prefer the French translation, "fermi la douché."
Yet, just like Mark Twain (or was it Samuel Clemens) said of cursing,
"Bad words are like the flag, they should be displayed only on
special occasions and then so, with enthusiasm." So I have something
I have been wanting to say to some people for awhile: "Just shut
up."
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
DOT:
Brown wrong on Hwy. 54 allegations
Recently several
articles and editorials have been printed in your newspaper regarding
Georgia Department of Transportation's involvement in the State Route
54/Wal-Mart development project in Peachtree City. Our department understands
concerns that the public has regarding new developments in their community,
including traffic congestion, overcrowding and poor air quality, among
others. However, there seems to be some misconception regarding the
Georgia DOT's role in this issue.

AT&T

I've been asked
may questions recently about the restructuring of AT&T. Most of
the questions revolve around how the restructuring plan will affect
my company, AT&T Broadband, and the impact on our customers.
Ban
those cell phones while driving a vehicle
Lately, I have witnessed
some wild driving from people behind the wheel of an automobile. This
is more often the case, because these people are more concerned with
what is going on inside their vehicle than they are driving it. When
this happens the roads are no longer safe and an accident can become
an innocent person's worst nightmare.

I would like to
compliment the Fayette County Tag Office. I have had a couple of occasions

wonders, you simply will not believe!"
