Christ Our Shepherd schedules special music Saturday, Sunday The music ministry at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church offers a "Christmas gift to the congregation and community" this weekend, with a special Christmas music program to be presented Saturday and Sunday. David Beecher, Christ Our Shepherd's director of music, described the program, For All the People, as "an opportunity for peace, focused on the Christ Child, amidst the flurry of Christmas demands." The concert is a collection of music in many styles, from plainchant to calypso, and coming from at least nine countries and even more eras of music history, Beecher said. Each section begins with a chorale by J.S. Bach, the 250th anniversary of whose death is observed this year. 'The theme quotes the announcement of the angel in Luke," Beecher said: "Do not be afraid; for seeI am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: To you is born this day in the city of David a savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord." The adult choirs, the Shepherd's Flock Singers, adult hand bell choirs and several instrumentalists will participate, along with the congregation. "We will all sing beloved carols," Beecher said. "In short, everyone who attends will be touched by the beauty of the music and words." The choir concert begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, and at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17, in the sanctuary of the church located at the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Georgia Hwy. 54.
