Wednesday, December 13, 2000 Jones wins area builder award Tim Jones, owner and president of Jonesboro-based Tim Jones Communities, is the 2000 Builder of the Year for the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. The award was presented at the recent 20th Annual Professionalism Awards Banquet, held in the Thomas Murphy Ballroom of the Georgia World Congress Center. The event was sponsored by the Sales and Marketing Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. This is the second major award this year for Jones, as he was earlier selected as 2000 Builder Member of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Georgia. That award was given during the Annual Installation and Awards Banquet at the statewide association's 46th Annual Convention, held recently in Orlando. Jones, who resides in the Lake Spivey area of Clayton County, has worked in construction for most of his life, founding Tim Jones Communities just over 20 years ago. Presently the leading builder in the Clayton/Henry area of Metro South, the company has produced approximately 2,000 new homes over the years and is currently building over 300 homes a year ranging in price from the low $100,000s to over $300,000. In recent years, the company has consistently set new records each year in new home sales and closings. The Tim Jones organization, which has expanded to over 200 employees over the years, not only builds homes and develops communities, but also has land surveying, engineering and design, pipe and grading, and real estate sales divisions. Jones was the 1998-199 president of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and is also a past president of the Metro South Home Builders Association. Tim Jones Communities has received several coveted Professionalism Awards from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council, and it is currently ranked No. 15 in the Atlanta Business Chronicle's listing of "Atlanta's Top 25 Home Builders." Jones and his company have been recognized with the prestigious Diamond Builder award from 2/10 Home Buyers Warranty (HBW), the nation's leading 10-year home buyer's warranty program. The award represents HBW's highest honor and is bestowed upon builders who have a proven track record for superior construction standards, design quality, and outstanding customer service. In addition, Tim Jones Communities Inc. was among the first group of Metro Atlanta area builders to receive the prestigious Certified Professional Home Builder designation.
