Wednesday, December 13, 2000 Knight Group recognized by builders The Knight Group, which has its offices in Jonesboro, has once again been included among the metro Atlanta area's top quality home builders, receiving recognition at the annual Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association Professionalism Awards Banquet, held Nov. 11. The black-tie awards dinner and program, which took place at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, was presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council to recognize the most outstanding professionals in Atlanta1s home building industry. The awards program gives members of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association an opportunity to compete with their industry professionals in building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement areas. This year, 35 industry professionals came to Atlanta from across the United States during August to judge 664 entries. The Knight Group earned a Silver Award in the category for Best Building Design - Single Family Detached Homes in the $100,000 and under price range. The winning home is located in the Poplar Pointe community in Griffin. The Knight Group, formerly known as Knight Development, is a family business and has earned numerous awards for building quality and customer service in recent years. During the 1990s, the company has been a consistent winner of Professionalism Awards in the annual competition, bringing home two of these awards in 1992, five in 1995, one in 1997, two in 1998 and one in 1999 The Knight Group's history goes back to 1973, when brothers Perry and Scott Knight started framing houses for builders in the Metro South area. They began building homes in the late 1970s. Perry's son Jay, who joined the firm in 1982, now serves as president of The Knight Group, while Scott's son Chris is vice president . The company currently builds over 250 homes a year.
