St. Gabriel's Catholic Church announces Christmas masses The Catholic Church of St. Gabriel in Fayetteville will celebrate Christmas with three celebrations of the Eucharist on Christmas Eve and a morning Mass on Christmas Day. Christmas Eve will begin with a family Mass at 5 p.m. featuring the children's choir under the direction of music minister Sherri Dillon. The Life Teen Mass will follow at 8 p.m. and will have music by Gabriel's Voice. This group routinely provides the music for the Life Teen Mass each Sunday evening. A solemn Mass announcing the birth of Christ will be celebrated at midnight and will feature the adult choir under the direction of Mrs. Dillon. Christmas morning Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Parishioner Andrea Caldwell will be the soloist. Father Daniel Toof, pastor of St. Gabriel's, will be the celebrant at each of the services. This will be Father Toof's first Christmas at the parish, following his taking over of the Fayetteville parish last June. Each of the Christmas masses will be proceeded by 30 minutes of Christmas carols sung by the music group and the congregation. "Christmas is always a special time at our parish," said parishioner Jim Winkler, "Since St. Gabriel is our patron and Gabriel delivered the good news of the birth of Christ, it makes things extra special to our parishioners." The church expects overflow crowds at all the Masses and urges both parishioners and community visitors to plan to arrive early. St. Gabriel's is located on Antioch Rd. just south of the Ga. Hwy. 92/Antioch Rd. intersection. For more information or directions, call the church at 770-461-0492. |
