There were several heart-stopping finishes in high school basketball action over the weekend and the Fayette team emerged as the victor in each of the games that went down to the wire.

Starr's Mill's boys played against Eagle's Landing Saturday and won on a three-pointer at the buzzer from Chris Oakley. Donny Lampen scored 11 points and pulled in nine rebounds, while Micah Fletcher scored nine points and had eight rebounds.

"We had a hard-fought game and the boys hung in there," said Coach Tim Miller. "We need to do a better job of executing at the end of the game though, and work on rebounding offensively and defensively."

The other game that went down to the wire was the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots' game against Northgate. The Lady Patriots won by a score of 34-32, thanks to a last-second layup from freshman Tiffany Paschal, who finished with nine points and six rebounds. Jessica Demooney had four assists and Mia Hughes had four rebounds.

In other games, Sandy Creek's boys romped over Northgate 86-49. L.T. Lockett scored 24 points in the win after producing 35 points the night before in Sandy Creek's 81-66 win over Salem.

Starr's Mill's girls defeated Eagle's Landing 50-31. Erin Ricker led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 18 points.

Morrow's boys and girls dealt losses to McIntosh. The boys defeated the Chiefs 49-46, while the Lady Chiefs were defeated 59-41. Riverdale handed losses out to Fayette County's boys and girls Friday as well, defeating the boys team 94-63 and the girls team 51-32.
