Spiritual malaise can be broken

A malaise seems to have a hold on spiritual affairs among Christians and the church, at least on the south side of Atlanta. I shudder in using such a word for it is the very word verbalized by Jimmy Carter in describing the nation in the late seventies. Ronald Reagan responded by championing the greatness of America and won the election .

Former actor, male prostitute to lead sexual healing seminar in Tyrone

Canon David Kyle Foster, former Hollywood actor and male prostitute, will lead a seminar on "Sexual HealingHow to Minister to Someone Who Is Sexually Broken," Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22 and 23 in the chapel of Operation Mobilization in Tyrone. The seminar is sponsored by Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church. Foster also will speak at the 10 a.m. service at Christ the King on Sunday, Sept. 24. Christ the King currently holds services in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley funeral home on Highway 74 in Peachtree City.

Nativity will host special luncheon for ministers

The Episcopal Church of the Nativity will host a luncheon for ministers in Fayette County on Friday, Sept. 15. Sponsored by the Southern Crescent Sexual Assault Center, the luncheon will provide valuable information helpful to ministers in pastoral situations involving victims of sexual assault.

Bethany UMC schedules fall revival Sept. 24

Bethany United Methodist Church in North Fayette County will have its fall revival this month. Services are scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 24 through Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 6:45 until 8 p.m.

New Presbyterian Church is now meeting in South Fayette

Dr. Martin Huggins, present pastor of College Park Presbyterian Church, is starting a new church in Fayette County which presently meets at the Calvin Center near Woolsey each Sunday. A special area serves as sanctuary but outdoor worship is also planned.

Former Atlanta Falcons cheerleader Cindye Coates will be the featured speaker at this month's meeting of Women's Aglow Fellowship International, Peachtree City Chapter, Monday evening, Sept. 18, and Tuesday morning, Sept. 19. Deer Pointe annex question: Where are good neighbors?

Fayette County and Fayetteville are again besieged by "Good Neighbors," or at least they say they are. In a county and city beset by the pressures of development and developers, a good neighbor would be a good thing. In a county that is rapidly loosing its rural qualities and witnessing the encroachment of asphalt, concrete, and the proliferation of subdivisions, the county needs good neighbors within its boundaries.

While every rezoning raises our taxes, our officials keep right on rezoning
