The annual Shakerag Festival returns to Peachtree City this weekend and there will be many new vendors as well as the return of some of the festivals old favorites.

Festival coordinator Susan Taylor estimates that there will be 150-160 vendors present this year. Add to that all of the fabulous food vendors and entertainers and you've got a great way to spend a weekend.

Some of the new vendors at this year's festival will offer quilts and outdoor lawn furniture. Jewelry also is expected to be a big hit this year with a vendor offering glass beaded bracelets. There will also be stained glass, walking sticks, wooden pens, wind chimes and more. Country Gardens Nursery in Sharpsburg will have a booth at this year's festival and will be selling plants, while Ison's
Nursery in Fayette County will offer scuppernongs and muscadines for people wanting to make some fine jams and jellies this fall.

Speaking of food, dozens of local civic groups get together for Shakerag each year and offer a terrific display of all sorts of food.

The entertainment is first notch this year as well, featuring the Peachtree Wind Ensemble, Rachel Ferguson's dancers, soloist Spencer Mulkey, the Fayette Fiddlers and a barbershop quartet. All of the entertainment will be featured during both days of the festival.

"Shakerag is a successful festival because there are a variety of vendors with a high quality of work," explains Taylor. "The crafts, the food and the entertainment make for a wonderful show."

There will be a shuttle from the Shakerag festival to the Tyrone Founders Day festival. For information phone 770-631-2542.
