Tim Jones of Jonesboro-based Tim Jones Communities has been named 2000 Builder Member of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Georgia.

The award was presented during the Annual Installation and Awards Banquet at the statewide association's 46th annual convention, held recently in Orlando.

“It's a great honor to receive this award from my peers in Georgia's home building industry,” said Jones, who noted that the statewide association has 10,000 members, over 5,000 of whom are builders. Jones received the award for his achievements in and contributions to the building industry in the state.

Jones, a resident of the Lake Spivey area of Clayton County, has been in construction for most of his life, and he founded Tim Jones Communities just over 20 years ago. Now the leading builder in the Clayton/Henry area of Metro South, the company has produced approximately 2,000 new homes over the years and is currently building over 300 homes a year with its products ranging in price from the low $100,000s to over $300,000.

In recent years, the company has consistently broken its own records each year in new home sales and closings.

Mark Hyre, the company's director of marketing and dales, said the 20-year-old company had record closing months cumulatively in May and June with 37 in May and 39 in June.

The Tim Jones organization, which has grown to over 200 employees, not only builds homes and develops communities, but also has land surveying, engineering and design, pipe and grading, and real estate sales divisions.

Jones was the 1998-1999 president of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and is also a past president of the Metro South Home Builders Association. For two consecutive years, Tim Jones Communities has received coveted Professionalism Awards from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council.

Jones and his company have been recognized with the prestigious Diamond Builder award from 2/10 Home Buyers Warranty (HBW), the nation's leading 10-year home buyer's warranty program. The award represents HBW's highest honor and is bestowed upon builders who have a proven track record for superior construction standards, design quality, and outstanding customer service.

In addition, Tim Jones Communities Inc. was among the first group of Metro Atlanta area builders to receive the prestigious Certified Professional Home Builder designation. The Certified Professional Home Builder program was instituted and is administered by The Housing Institute Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association.
