Southside Seals swim successful season

The Southside Seals Masters Swim Team completed its most successful season ever, setting new team records in every category.

Coach Karen Uzpurvis, who joined the team last fall, has led her team to both regional and national honors during the year. A short summary of the team's accomplishments from September 1999 through August 2000 include:

14 Georgia Games Medals (six gold, eight silver);
19 New Georgia Masters records (six individual, 13 relay);
25 Dixie Zone Championship titles (17 individual, five relay);
Two Dixie Zone Championship individual high point awards;
Eight National Championship medals (three individual, five relay);
Six national top ten listings (all relay);
One USMS All-American selection in relay.

But not all of the successes of the team can be measured in records and medals. The Seals have expanded their team roster, added more coached practices, and had more swimmers participate in meets than in any previous year.

As the 2000-2001 season opens, the team will be looking to eclipse last year's results while continuing the camaraderie and friendship that is the foundation of the team.

The Southside Seals is a member club of United States Masters Swimming and is open to adults over 19. Swimmers of all skill levels are welcome, including competitive swimmers, triathletes and fitness swimmers.
