'Hometime' stars coming to Home Show

Dean Johnson and Robin Hartl, hosts of The Learning Channel's popular program “Hometime,” will be conducting seminars at the Atlanta Home Show at the Cobb Galleria Centre Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22-23.

In addition to the seminars, B-98.5 FM will be hosting a luncheon with Johnson and Hartl Friday, Sept. 22 at noon in room 103 of the Cobb Galleria Centre. Fans and remodelers will get to meet the home improvement gurus and get their books and photographs autographed. The price of the luncheon is $25 and includes entrance to the show.

The Atlanta Home Show, Sept. 21-24, featuring the area's largest display of home improvement ideas under one roof, is bringing The Learning Channel's popular “do-it-yourselfers” to Atlanta for two afternoons of hammering out remodeling and homebuilding questions and nailing down solutions. After their presentations, Johnson and Hartl will answer questions on new construction, planning a remodeling project, adding a home theater, painting, refinishing floors, and decorating with old or new furniture.

The Hometime seminars are scheduled for 3-4 p.m. Friday and three times Saturday — noon-1 p.m., 2-3 p.m. and 4-5 p.m.

Hometime is a top-rated weekly show carried on 292 public television stations as well as The Learning Channel. On their show, Johnson and Hartl provide step-by-step instruction on constructing new houses and renovating older ones.

Dean Johnson, a native Minnesotan, founded Hometime Video Publishing, Inc. in 1984 as a new source of information for the do-it-yourselfer. Two years later, Hometime premiered on public television, providing the average homowner with step-by-step home-improvement advice for professional-looking results.

With Hometime now in its 14th season, Johnson, who skis and coaches his children's soccer teams, is joined by co-host Robin Hartl, who is not only an avid do-it-yourselfer, but also active with athletics and her community.
