Nativity will host
special luncheon for ministers
The Episcopal Church of the
Nativity will host a luncheon for ministers in Fayette County on Friday,
Sept. 15. Sponsored by the Southern Crescent Sexual Assault Center, the
luncheon will provide valuable information helpful to ministers in pastoral
situations involving victims of sexual assault.
"Fayette County is not immune to the culture in which we live and
the communities we serve", said the Rev. Bob Hudak, Pastor of Nativity.
"Recognizing the trusting relationships we so often find ourselves
in as pastoral ministers, the Southern Crescent Sexual Assault Center
would like to help us know more about this very personal
crime and what we as church leaders can do in our service to all God's
people."
Statistics from the Department of Justice indicate that sexual assault
is one of the fastest growing crimes in our country. The mission of the
Southern Crescent Sexual Assault Center is to provide crisis intervention
services, resource information, legal advocacy to survivors of sexual
assault and their families, and community education.
For more information, call the Center at 770-603-4045. More than 112 invitations
have been extended to the ministers of congregations in Fayette County.
