Scott Robert JohnstonScott Robert Johnston, 28, Lake Mary, Fla., formerly of Peachtree City, died Oct. 28, 2007. He was born Nov. 20, 1978 in Red Bank, N. J. He spent his early years growing up in Matawan, N. J., before moving to Peachtree City with his family in 1992. He attended McIntosh High School and the Delta Connection Flight Academy in Sanford, Fla. where there he earned his private, instrument, commercial and multi-engine licenses as well as CF l and CF ll flight instruction ratings. He was employed as a flight instructor with Epic Aviator in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. Memorial services were at Peachtree City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chuck Hodges officiating. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Susan Johnston, Peachtree City; a brother, Robby Johnston, Eatonton; and grandmother, Leone Johnston, Peachtree City. Verna PacelliVerna Pacelli, 67, Peachtree City, died Nov. 1, 2007. She had worked for many years as a certified nursing assistant, six of those years were spent working for Southland Nursing Home, Peachtree City. A lover of animals, she often supported the Humane Society. A memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. It will be at 108 St. Albans Way, Peachtree City. Barbara Fay Matthews CampbellBarbara Fay Matthews Campbell, 72, Fayetteville, died Nov. 7, 2007. She was retired from Piedmont Hospital with 16 years of service as an O. R. tech before moving to St. George Island, Fla. Prior to her illness of ovarian cancer, she volunteered weekly at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. A mass was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The family will gather at St. George Island to celebrate her life in late November. She was born May 23, 1915 in Sharpsburg, daughter of Earnest and Annie North Wynn. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Camp, who was the county tax commissioner for over 40 years. After he died in 1978, she became tax commissioner until an election was held in 1979. Graveside services were at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Watson Mills officiating. Aubrey Earl "Sonny" Shaddix Jr.Aubrey Earl "Sonny" Shaddix Jr., 74, Newnan, died Nov, 5, 2007. He was born July 12, 1933 in Coweta County, son of Aubrey Earl and Mattie Mae Burks Shaddix Sr., He was graduated from Grantville High School and attended DeKalb Community College. He served in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict. He spent his entire professional career in law enforcement and security services. He served as a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol for 25 years and a federal marshal at the Lewis R. Morgan Federal Building and the United States Court House, Newnan. He was dedicated to the ministries of Northside Baptist Church where he was a charter member and had served as a deacon Sunday School teacher. He had recently been awarded a 50-year service pin for commitment to the Bigham Masonic Lodge, Moreland. Services were at the Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Carroll and the Rev. Dr. Bob Helton officiating. He was born Dec. 7, 1927 in Atlanta, son of Scott and Mae Belle Hogan Walters Sr., He grew up in East Point, and was graduated from Russell High School. He was graduated from the University of Georgia where he was president of the Chi Phi fraternity and member of the Gridiron Society. He remained active in fraternity activities throughout his life especially the years he lived in Shelton, Conn. While living there, he worked as a health benefits consultant for the Benefits Corp. of America. He loved singing and was past president of the Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut. After retirement and returning to Coweta County, he became a member of the Masterworks Community Chorale and attended the First United Methodist Church of Newnan. Services were at the Higgins Hillcrest chapel with the Rev. Dr. Med Roach officiating. Interment was at College Park Cemetery. Ruby Lucille Eppes SellmerRuby Lucille Eppes Sellmer, 90, Peachtree City, died Oct. 22, 2007. She was born Nov. 29, 1916 in San Augustine, Texas. He joined the United States Navy in 1959 serving aboard the USS Howard D. Crow. He was stationed outside Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was discharged in 1963 and served in the Merchant Marines. He moved to Peachtree City in 1978. He won his first city council seat in1986 and served until 1987. He served on the Fayette County Board of Commissioners from 1988 to 1992. He served as a Georgia state representative from 1992 to 1998, and again 2004 until the present. She was born Oct. 21, 1915 in Gwinnett County. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Stone in 1988. She was orphaned at an early age, and spent her formative years at the Vashti School in Thomasville. After returning to the Atlanta area, she settled in College Park where she met her husband. Together they co-founded Harris-Stone Cleaners in 1946 and ran the business for the next 30 years. She was fond of saying that when their daughter was born, her husband drove her to Piedmont Hospital in their only means of transportation, the laundry van. She was a lifelong member of College Park First Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family, being a homemaker, and working in her yard. Mary Diane DanielMary Diane Daniel, 72, Fayetteville, died Nov. 2, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gordon Daniel. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. She worked for many years for the Newnan Housing Authority and was devoted caseworker for the Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services. She retirement years were spent enjoying family and being "Nanee" to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping trips to the beach and mountains with her husband.
