William H. Green, 87, Kalamazoo, Mich., died Jan. 10, 2008. He was born Sept. 20, 1920 in Kalamazoo, son of the late William A. and Grace C. Lant Green. He had been a member of the Fellowship Class at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. In Kalamazoo, he was a member of Westwood Church of God. Gary Paul Hendry, 64, Peachtree City, died Jan. 13, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, William Paul Hendry. He was a 1966 graduate of Auburn University where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He worked with General Electric for 18 years and retired from Georgia Power with 23 years of service. He was a member of the Peachtree City Kiwanis Club, the Coweta-Fayette Auburn Club , and was a reading tutor at Huddleston Elementary School. Dorothy E. "Jean" Groce, 75, Fairburn, formerly of East Point and Loachapoka, Ala., died Jan. 14, 2008. She was born July 31, 1932 in Opelika, Ala., to the late Forney Edward and Mary Evelyn "Eva" Thomas. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Russell Thomas. Col. Roland Scott "Scotty" Dodson, 56, Fayetteville, died Jan. 18, 2008. He was preceded in death by son, Tyler Jack Dodson, and father, Jack Young Dodson. He was graduated from College Park High School in 1969 and the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1973, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He flew F-16s for the Alabama National Guard retiring in 1995. He served in Turkey during Desert Shield. He worked for Delta Airlines as a pilot for 30 years and most recently worked as manager of pilot flight training for the B-737-800 program. Raymond "Ray" Thomas Palmer, Peachtree City, formerly of Houston, Texas, died Jan. 8, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ada Lee Palmer and granddaughter, Daniela Ballard Dykes. He had served in the United States Navy and the Merchant Marines. He was a master machinist and loved to fish, smoke his pipe and feed the birds and squirrels. Fred E. Childers Sr., 88, Fayetteville, died Jan. 12, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Childers, and two grandchildren.

John Lee Stephens died Jan. 1, 2008. He was born Sept. 2, 1921 in Franklin, Ga., son of George and Henrietta Stephens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Mae Geter, whom he had married Sept. 28, 1941. They were married 55 years. He joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Franklin, at an early age. He was a respected auto mechanic and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Franklin. Services were at the Roscoe Jenkins chapel with interment at Bethel Heard Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin.

Bertha Aldridge McDowell, 91, Newnan, died Jan. 2, 2008. She was born April 19, 1916 in Randolph County, Ala., to the late William Jackson and Lydia Ann Wood Aldridge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Kirby McDowell, and a daughter, Brenda Joan McDowell. Services were at the McKoon chapel with Pastor Danny Wilson officiating. Lockwood Carlisle "O. D." William, 71, Newnan, died Jan. 3, 2008 after a struggle with cancer. He was born Sept. 24, 1936 at Fort Mills, Corregidor, The Philippines, son of Col. Robert Lockwood and Elsie Carlisle Williams. He was preceded in death by a son, Lockwood Carlisle "Chip" Williams, Peachtree City and Newnan. He graduated from Southwest Atlanta High School, and attended Georgia Tech studying civil engineering. He had worked for A. B. Dick and Xerox, and owned a Gulf Oil and a BP service stations for the next 28 years among other endeavors. He was a member of Cliftondale First United Methodist Church, the American Association of Woodturners and the South Metro Woodturners Association. He enjoyed activities at Lake Hartwell. He also enjoyed scuba diving, jet skiing, traveling abroad, attending his grandchildren's baseball games and dining out with friends on Tuesday nights.

Billy "Roger" Norman, 50, Newnan, died Jan. 6, 2008. He was born Dec. 12, 1957 in Newnan. He was employed with Georgia Power for 31 years and was a maintenance planner. Richard "Dick" Grutt, 74, Peachtree City, died Dec. 24, 2007. He was born July 13, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, son of Elery and Lanetta Kraft Grutt. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Grutt Davis in 2000. He attended the Miami of Ohio University and served in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon returning, he was graduated from Ohio State University in 1961. He was an avid OSU Buckeye football fan. He was employed for 15 years by Owens Corning Fiberglass in Newark and Granville, Ohio. Upon coming to Georgia, he was employed by Cardinal Industries in College Park as financial controller. In 1978 he started Grutt's Financial Service in Peachtree City. He loved to play golf and looked forward to playing with his Thursday morning group. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A funeral mass was at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Marion, Ohio.

James Edward "Jim" Beauchamp, 68, Tyrone, died Dec. 25, 2007. He was born Aug. 21, 1939 in Vinita, Okla. He was a professional baseball player and coach.
