Louise Porter Drake Hawkins, 98, Fayetteville, died Jan. 24, 2008. She was born Oct. 8, 1909 in Jefferson, Ga., the eldest child of the late Arthur Newton and Ora Wood Porter.

Elizabeth S. Borsare, Peachtree City, died Jan. 8, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Borsare. A memorial mass was at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father John Paul Ezconyido officiating.

Lewis Ronald Kuhns

Lewis Ronald Kuhns, 68, Newnan, died Jan. 19, 2008. He was born June 11,1939 in Williamsport, Pa., son of the late Harry K. and Violet Kramer Kuhns. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Moffett Kuhns, and a brother, Russell Kuhns. He served in the Army National Guard in his career as an engineer with the Federal Aviation Administration. He had served in several natural disasters as a reservist with FEMA. He was the owner of Jersey Mike's Subs in Newnan and Peachtree City, and was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

Emma Wilkes Barron

Emma Wilkes Barron, 94, died Jan. 21, 2008. She was born Feb. 24, 1913 in Dallas, Texas, daughter of the late Roy Lenoir and Anna Josephine Foreman Wilkes. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Frank Marion "Bo" Barron, a son-in-law, Robert Lewis Blalock, and a grandson, Frank Marion "Bo" Barron III. In her teen years, the family moved to LaGrange, where she met her future husband. She attended LaGrange Business College and was a secretary at Callaway Mills. She also worked in the adult probation office in Newnan. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was involved in the life of the church as long as she was able. Services were at Central Baptist Church, Newnan, with the Rev. Joel E. Richardson, and the Rev. Sam Henderson officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan. Survivors include children, Joanna "Jody" Barron Blalock, Frank Marion and Linda Barron Jr., Laura Barron and Bob Patrick; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Benjamin Steven Trammell

Benjamin Steven Trammell, 26, died Jan. 21, 2008. He was born Jan. 26,1981 in Newnan. He was a 2000 graduate of East Coweta High School and obtained an Associates Degree from Gainesville College. He was currently seeking his Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of West Georgia. He was also a graduate of the Georgia Public Safety Regional Training Center Police Academy in Columbus, Ga. He was an avid Civil War re-enactor and was a competitive pistol shooter. Services were at the Senoia United Methodist Church with interment at the Senoia City cemetery. Survivors include his parents, Steven Edward and Joan Pollard Trammell, Senoia; a brother, Matthew Pollard and Laura Trammell; grandmothers, Frances Pollard and Geraldine Trammell; and aunts, Diane Adcock, Jan Roberts, and Cathie Kirkland.

Sarah Hammond Pippin Key

Sarah Hammond Pippin Key, 97, died Jan. 22, 2008. She was born June 3, 1910 in Fredonia, Ala., daughter of the late Taswell Milton and Cora Lee Hardegree Hammond. She was also preceded in death by husbands, S. J. Pippin in 1956 and Howard B. Key in 1966. For 15 years she was the manager of Carter's Manufacturing Co., in Forsyth. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Danny Wilson officiating. Interment was at Forsyth City cemetery. Survivors include children, Dorothy Branton, Beverly and Richard Perryman, and Patricia and Bob Mobley; seven grandchildren; and12 great-grandchildren. Lurline Owen Craven

Lurline Owen Craven, 81, Newnan, died Jan. 27, 2008. She was born Nov. 21, 1926 to the late Solon Young and Sara Frances Carden Windom. She was well known through her association with The Belk Company in LaGrange. She retired as a faithful employee after many years. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Craven and the Rev. Alton Stamey officiating. Interment was at Southview Cemetery, Moreland. Survivors include her husband Walker Lee Craven, Newnan; children, Delores O. and Ronald Glore, Tallapoosa, Ga., Harvey L. Joseph Henry Brown

Joseph Henry Brown, 70, Peachtree City, died Jan. 20, 2008. He was a native of Chester, Pa., where he was graduated from Chester High in 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Clemie Willie and Estella Kate Brown, and a grandson, Lamar Alison Shannon II. He received his M.S. at the University of Utah in 1975 and worked for over 20 years in Health and Human Services with the Federal government. After retirement in 1988 he worked for several years at the Department of Labor where he was known as "Major Brown." He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Edgar "Ed" Kincaid, 53, Fayetteville, died Jan. 20, 2008. He enjoyed scuba diving, radio-controlled helicopters, model trains, motorcycles, flying, and racing cars. Over the last two years, he helped build and operate Genet Concrete Products in Forest Park. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Gene Carlisle Cochran

Gene Carlisle Cochran, 74, Fayetteville, died Jan. 21, 2008. He was born Sept. 6, 1933 in Camilla, Ga., son of the late Underwood C. and Victoria Cochran. He was the youngest of four children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Cochran, a daughter, Christie Marie Cochran, a brother, Raymond Cochran, and a sister, Christine Sheppard. He was graduated from Bainbridge High School, served in the United States Marine Corps and also attended Florida State University. In the early 1960's he moved to Atlanta and worked as a salesman in the pharmaceutical trade. He was a member of Heritage Christian Church in Fayetteville, and was a member of the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge #711 F&AM, and the Fayette Shrine Club. Services were at Heritage Christian Church with the Rev. Roy Roberson officiating. Interment was at Sherwood Memorial Park, Jonesboro.

Ronald Stanford Fong

Major Ronald Stanford Fong, United States Army, retired, 58, Peachtree City, died Jan. 22, 2008. He was born Feb. 23, 1949 in Dallas, Texas. He was a graduate of Garland High School and Texas A&M University. He served in the United States Army for more than 20 years. He served during the Gulf War in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and was aide-de-campe to Lt. General John J. Yeosock. He enjoyed sharing his gourmet cooking and gardening experiences with all. Services were at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sean Robinson officiating. Interment was at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Ga.

Barbara Elaine Curry

Barbara Elaine Curry, 66, Fayetteville, died Jan. 23, 2008. She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Lee Cottrell, her husband, Charles E. Curry, and a brother, William Cottrell. Tom Parker Sr., Fayetteville, formerly of East Point, died Jan. 23, 2008. He was a World War II veteran serving in England with the United States Army 74th General Hospital. Loreen Overstreet

Dr. Loreen ‘Phyl’ Overstreet, 82, formerly of Fayetteville, died Jan. 26, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dan Overstreet, and son, Marcus Overstreet. She was a professor emeritus with the University System of Georgia. She attended Ouachita College in Arkansas, the University of Georgia, Southwestern Theological Seminary in Texas, and Emory University where she received her master's degree. At the University of South Carolina she received her doctorate of education degree. She also received her nursing degree from the Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She began her career as a registered nurse as a world War II army cadet. She taught in several colleges and schools of nursing. She was honored with medals and awards for her work including the Individual Service Award by the Georgia Rural Health Association in 1988.

James C. Denney

James C. Denney, 78, Newnan, died Jan. 9, 2008. He was born Feb. 24, 1929 in Heard County to the late Kramer R. and Effie Lee Arrington. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Services were at the McKoon chapel with Pastor Doug Anderson officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.Survivors include his wife, Mildred Houston Denney, Newnan; sons, Dwayne Denney, Jon Denney, and Stan Denney, all of Newnan; and five grandchildren.

Autry Garland Burnham

Autry Garland Burnham, 91, Newnan, did Jan. 9, 2008. He was born Dec. 21,1916 in Coweta County, son of the late Eldredge and Emma Bennett Burnham. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Bessie Ann Banks Burnham in 2007, and their only child, Patricia Burnham Cox, who died several weeks after her mother. Graveside services were at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan. Survivors include grandchildren, Marion and Dawn Cox, Randy and Cindy Cox, and Eddie and Ashley Cox; and great-grandchildren, Alea Cox, Christopher Cox, Josh Cox, Julie Cox, and Caraline Cox and Kiley Cox; and a sister-in-law, Eugenia Banks Strickland.
