Louise Porter Drake Hawkins, 98, Fayetteville, died Jan. 24, 2008. She was born Oct. 8, 1909 in Jefferson, Ga., the eldest child of the late Arthur Newton and Ora Wood Porter. She was also preceded in death by husbands James A. Drake, with whom she had three children, and also Street Hawkins, and six of her siblings. She had moved to East Point in 1930 and worked in retail sales. During world War II she worked at Conley Ordinance Depot, to help the war effort. She was a long-time active member of East Point Christian Church, until she moved to Fayetteville and continued as a member of First Christian Church of Tyrone. While her children were in school, she was active in PTA, the East Point Woman's Club and the East Point Historical Society. Services were at the First Christian Church, Tyrone, with interment at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include children, James "Jack" and Lilly Ann Drake, Norcross, Ray Allen Drake, Largo, Fla., and Virginia and Bill Newland, Kent, Wash., seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Maxine Holcombe, Jackson, and Ora Jean and Olen Gunnin, Fayetteville.
