James Hilton Blankenship

James Hilton Blankenship, 83, Shiloh, Ga., died Dec. 4, 2007. He was born Nov. 30, 1924 in Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Blankenship, and a son, Joel S. Blankenship. He enjoyed farming and had worked for 40 years at Norfolk Southern Railroad. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Billy Patrick officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include sons, Russell and Connie Blankenship, Danny and Sharan Blankenship, and Brian and Robin Blankenship; a daughter-in-law, Judy Blankenship; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Henry Burns

Henry Burns, 77, Newnan, died Dec. 12, 2007. He was born March 23, 1930 in Lamar, Miss. He was a very caring person and touched the lives of many people. He was employed by Kajrenki for 30 years in Detroit before moving to Newnan in 1993. In later years he was employed by Town and Country Restaurant for over six years. Services were at the Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Grady B. Vaughn and the Rev. James Stagall, officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Gary Tiner Adams

Gary Tiner Adams, 62, Newnan, died Dec. 14, 2007. He was born Aug. 31, 1945 in Rochester, N. Y. He was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Virginia Adams. His love of music began at an early age and this love was passed along to his children. His creative nature included his culinary skills. His interests included family, friends, church and the love of God, as well as his beloved North Carolina State Wolfpacks. Samuel Radford

Samuel Radford, 62, Fayetteville, died Dec. 10, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Moss. Thomas Glidewell, 62, Fayetteville, died Dec. 12, 2007. He was born July 15, 1916 in Fulton County. He was preceded in death by parents, Omer Vinten and Grace Irene Glidewell. He was a retired machinist from Northwest Airlines, American Can Co., and Pratt & Whitney. He was a talented gunsmith and in the last several years turned his talents toward quilting. Edwin M. Carlos Flury, 91, Fayetteville, formerly of McDonough, died Dec. 13, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia H. Flury, and a daughter, Barbara Ann Flury. Bonnie Ruffin Alsobrook, 74, Peachtree City, died Nov. 23, 2007. She was born in Yatesville, Upson County and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church near Yatesville. She was a former employee of Robins Air Force Base and retired as key punch operator with Colonial Stores after 24 years of service. Foster Lee Butler

Foster Lee Butler, 86, Fairburn, Fayette County, died Nov. 29, 2007. He was born May 3, 1921 in Douglas County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Brown Butler. Brenda Stephens Miller

Brenda Stephens Miller, 59, Peachtree City, died Dec. 2, 2007. She was born Oct. 12, 1948 in Anderson, S.C. She fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, William Stephens. She was graduated from Clemson University where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. She was the "Woman Behind the USAF Pilot" residing in many locations overseas and stateside with her husband. She was a school teacher for a number of years culminating with many years in San Antonio, Texas. Graveside services were at Old Silver Brook Cemetery, Anderson, S.C., with Pastor John Weber and Pastor Miriam Beecher officiating.

Mary Ann Hornsby

Mary Ann Hornsby, 71, Locust Grove, died Dec. 2, 2007. She was born Sept. 5, 1936 in Fayette County, daughter of Rufus and Mollie Belle Nelson Burdette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hornsby Sr. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Darron Turner and the Rev. Sam Calliero officiating. Billie Damon Barnes

Billie Damon Barnes, 82, Blytheville, Ark., died Dec. 7, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Barnes, who had retired from Delta Air Lines with 33 years of service. She had lived in Holiday, Fla., for 25 years and most recently live in Tyrone for the past two years. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles and was an avid bird watcher. She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy.

Blake Ryan Harrison

Lula Mae Davis Newell

Lula Mae Davis Newell, Avalon, died Nov. 17, 2007. She was born in Upson County, daughter of the late Dock and Nellie Johnson Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Newell Sr. She was a lovely and caring person, kind and friendly to everyone, and she didn't mind telling you what she thought.

John A. Malcolm Sr.

John A. Malcolm Sr., 95, Moreland, died Nov. 17, 2007. He was born April 10,1912, son of the late Andrew and Lila Malcolm. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mattie Ruth, who died in infancy, two brothers and a sister. He grew up in the Moreland area and was a member of the Mt. Prospect Baptist Church. He worked on the Usher Board for years and was ordained as a deacon. He was retired from the Central of Georgia Railway. Services were at the Mt. Prospect Baptist Church with interment at the church cemetery.

David Shelton

David Shelton, 38, Senoia, died Nov. 28, 2007. He was born March 26, 1969 in Carter, Tenn. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Lendell Ainsworth and the Rev. Chuck Novak officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn.

Jeffery Brandon Todd

Jeffery Brandon Todd, 27, Newnan, died Nov. 29, 2007. He was born July 16,1980 in Newnan. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clyde Acree Sr., He was a 1997 graduate of East Coweta High School where he played on the tennis team and played on the drum line for the Marching Indians High School marching band. He attended the University of West Georgia and was a member of the TKE fraternity. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved animals and enjoyed being around the dogs he raised and cared for. He played softball, loved to hike and to be outdoors, and was very talented woodworker.

Donald "Don" R. Stewart Jr.

Donald "Don" R. Stewart Jr., Gay, died Dec. 1, 2007. He was preceded in death by his son, Denny Tolbert in June, 2007, and a stepbrother, Freddy Boatfield of Douglas County. He was veteran of the United States Army and was employed at Buckhead Beef in Atlanta. No public service was held. Gertrude H. Herndon

Gertrude H. Herndon, 86, Senoia, died Nov. 26, 2007. She was born July 24, 1921 in Coweta County, daughter of the late Sara Reid. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Herndon and a grandson, Willie Carl Porter Jr. She loved Oak Grove Baptist Church and her church family. She was a devoted member until her health began to fail.Services were at the Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home chapel with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Senoia.

Jeanette Nishi

Jeanette Nishi, 70, Peachtree City, died Nov. 23, 2007. She was born in Greenville, Ala. She was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence E. Rodgers, and her parents, Ruby M. Ingram and Louis Butts. She traveled round the world as a military wife and enjoyed being overseas in Africa and Germany. When her husband retired from the United States Air Force, they moved to Florida, but they recently moved to Georgia to be near family. No local services were held. Survivors include her husband, Toshitaka Nishi, Peachtree City; a brother, Donnie L. Butts, Montgomery, Ala.; a son, Timothy R. and Eileen Rodgers, Aurora, Colo.; daughters, Cynthia Eggleston, Mesquite, Nev., Catherine Barton, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Connie and Robert Wesolowski, Peachtree City; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Linda L. Barrett, Peachtree City, died Nov. 24, 2007. She was a member of Peachtree City First Baptist Church, where she worked as a parish nurse. Nina Brink Gonzales

Nina Brink Gonzales, 82, Sequin, Texas, died on Nov. 26, 2007. She was born Feb. 3, 1925 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, USSR, daughter of Eduard and Olga Horbatkova Brink. During World War II she was captured by the German Army to work as forced labor and was living in Stuttgart, Germany during the height of the Allied bombing. After the war she worked as clerk typist for the United States Army motor pool in Germany. Here she met Eli Gonzales to whom she was married from 1949 to 1972. She became a United States citizen in 1954 and held several secretarial positions. She was retired from the United States Postal Service in 1983. Services were at the Earthman Funeral Home, Baytown, Texas with interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Janette and Michael Barrow, Sequin, Texas, and Elaine and Philip Sullivan, Peachtree City; and grandsons, Brian Barrow and Mark Barrow, both of Austin, Ryan Sullivan of the United States Air Force Academy, Colo., and Timothy Sullivan, Peachtree City, Ga.
