Nina Brink Gonzales

Nina Brink Gonzales, 82, Sequin, Texas, died on Nov. 26, 2007. She was born Feb. 3, 1925 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, USSR, daughter of Eduard and Olga Horbatkova Brink. During World War II she was captured by the German Army to work as forced labor and was living in Stuttgart, Germany during the height of the Allied bombing. After the war she worked as clerk typist for the United States Army motor pool in Germany. Here she met Eli Gonzales to whom she was married from 1949 to 1972. She became a United States citizen in 1954 and held several secretarial positions. She was retired from the United States Postal Service in 1983. Services were at the Earthman Funeral Home, Baytown, Texas with interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Janette and Michael Barrow, Sequin, Texas, and Elaine and Philip Sullivan, Peachtree City; and grandsons, Brian Barrow and Mark Barrow, both of Austin, Ryan Sullivan of the United States Air Force Academy, Colo., and Timothy Sullivan, Peachtree City, Ga. Earthman Funeral Home, Baytown, Texas, was in charge.
