Lockwood Carlisle "O. D." William

Lockwood Carlisle "O. D." William, 71, Newnan, died Jan. 3, 2008 after a struggle with cancer. He was born Sept. 24, 1936 at Fort Mills, Corregidor, The Philippines, son of Col. Robert Lockwood and Elsie Carlisle Williams. He was preceded in death by a son, Lockwood Carlisle "Chip" Williams, Peachtree City and Newnan. He graduated from Southwest Atlanta High School, and attended Georgia Tech studying civil engineering. He had worked for A. B. Dick and Xerox, and owned a Gulf Oil and a BP service stations for the next 28 years among other endeavors. He was a member of Cliftondale First United Methodist Church, the American Association of Woodturners and the South Metro Woodturners Association. He enjoyed activities at Lake Hartwell. He also enjoyed scuba diving, jet skiing, traveling abroad, attending his grandchildren's baseball games and dining out with friends on Tuesday nights.

Services were at the Parrot chapel with Minister Richard Long and Minister Karen Lyons officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marcia Johnson Williams, Newnan; daughters, Debbie and Chuck Pace, and Leslie and Jonathan Wade, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Chris Pace, Jennifer Pace, Caitlin Wade, and Shannon Wade, all of Fayetteville; a brother, Tommy Williams; and a sister, Gail and Joe Alexander, Savannah.

Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.
