Roland Scott Dodson

Col. Roland Scott "Scotty" Dodson, 56, Fayetteville, died Jan. 18, 2008. He was preceded in death by son, Tyler Jack Dodson, and father, Jack Young Dodson. He was graduated from College Park High School in 1969 and the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1973, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He flew F-16s for the Alabama National Guard retiring in 1995. He served in Turkey during Desert Shield. He worked for Delta Airlines as a pilot for 30 years and most recently worked as manager of pilot flight training for the B-737-800 program. Services were at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Sam Matthews and the Rev. Randy Nix officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Dodson, Fayetteville; a son, Cody Scott Dodson, Fayetteville; mother, Martha Ann Dodson, Douglasville; a brother, Don and Debbie Dodson, Douglasville; nephews, Jack Dodson, Sean Snow, and Kyle Snow; a niece, Leigh Dodson; a sister-in-law, Joanne Snow; an uncle, Larry Dodson; and a cousin, Gail Milling. Memorial donations may be made to the Tyler Dodson Memorial Prize Fund, Woodward Academy, 1662 Rugby Avenue, College Park, GA 30337. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
