Raymond "Ray" Thomas Palmer, Peachtree City, formerly of Houston, Texas, died Jan. 8, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ada Lee Palmer and granddaughter, Daniela Ballard Dykes. He had served in the United States Navy and the Merchant Marines. He was a master machinist and loved to fish, smoke his pipe and feed the birds and squirrels. Graveside services were at Forest Lawn Lawndale Memorial Park, Houston. Survivors include his son, Dennis R. Palmer; a daughter, Susan Dykes; grandchildren, Daryl Palmer, Pamela Marshall, Michael Palmer, Bryan Dykes, and David Dykes; and great-grandchildren, Travis Oliver, Jacob Rawls, Gregory Rawls, Caitlin Marshall, Ruth Elynn Dikes, Elizabeth Michelle Dykes, and Carys Brynnan Dykes. Memorial donations may be made to Camp Living Stones Christian Youth Camp, 534 County Road #876, Englewood, TN 37329 or Healthfield Hospice, 34 Upper Riverdale Road, Ste. 101, Riverdale, GA 30274. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
