Neal Thomas Evans, 63, Fayetteville, died Oct. 27, 2007. He was born July 10, 1944 in Spalding County. He was preceded in death by his father, Neal Evans, his mother, Hazel Jackson Coggins, a son, Neal Thomas Evans Jr., and stepfather, Audrey Coggins. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dr. Doug Burrell and the Rev. Ralph Deveraux officiating. Interment was at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Jonesboro. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn B. Evans, Fayetteville; a daughter, Betty Sue and Jerrell Slack, Griffin; stepsons, Harold and Jane Leath, and Marcus and Sonia Leath, all of Griffin, and Chris and Shay Leath, Locust Grove; a stepdaughter, Yvette Leath Paulk, Jacksonville, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
