Donald Arelim Walters, 79, Newnan, died Nov. 5, 2007. He was born Dec. 7, 1927 in Atlanta, son of Scott and Mae Belle Hogan Walters Sr., He grew up in East Point, and was graduated from Russell High School. He was graduated from the University of Georgia where he was president of the Chi Phi fraternity and member of the Gridiron Society. He remained active in fraternity activities throughout his life especially the years he lived in Shelton, Conn. While living there, he worked as a health benefits consultant for the Benefits Corp. of America. He loved singing and was past president of the Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut. After retirement and returning to Coweta County, he became a member of the Masterworks Community Chorale and attended the First United Methodist Church of Newnan. Services were at the Higgins Hillcrest chapel with the Rev. Dr. Med Roach officiating. Interment was at College Park Cemetery. Survivors include daughter, Claudia Leigh and Timothy Paul Grady, Woodruff, S. C.; a brother, Scott Walters Jr., East Point; and a sister, Frances W. and Carl Harrison, Fayetteville.
