Donnell I. Bender, 72, Peachtree City, and Pompano Beach, Fla., died Nov. 3, 2007. He was born and raised in Dearborn, Mich. He was graduated with a B.A. and M.A. degrees in education and psychology from Michigan Sate University. He worked as a school psychologist for the Grand Rapids Public school in Michigan, until his retirement in 1994. A funeral mass was at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with interment of cremains in Florida. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Janet Bender, Peachtree City; a son, Kevin and Mary Grace Bender, Peachtree City; a daughter, Diane Bender and Brian Twet, Mesa Ariz.; and grandchildren, Jacob Bender and Malia Bender. He loved hearing his grandchildren call him "Poppie." Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
