Nancy Johnson Stone, 92, Fayetteville, formally of College Park, died Nov. 1, 2007. She was born Oct. 21, 1915 in Gwinnett County. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Stone in 1988. She was orphaned at an early age, and spent her formative years at the Vashti School in Thomasville. After returning to the Atlanta area, she settled in College Park where she met her husband. Together they co-founded Harris-Stone Cleaners in 1946 and ran the business for the next 30 years. She was fond of saying that when their daughter was born, her husband drove her to Piedmont Hospital in their only means of transportation, the laundry van. She was a lifelong member of College Park First Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family, being a homemaker, and working in her yard. Graveside services were the College Park Cemetery with Pastor Clay Edge officiating. Survivors include her daughter, Sue and Allen Adams; granddaughters, Susan and Randy Shimer, and Julie and Kevin Aycock; and great-grandsons, Adam Aycock, Luke Aycock, and Joe Aycock, and Christopher Shimer and Mark Shimer. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road., Union City, GA 30291. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. login to post comments |
