and certain members of the State Legislature hosted the First Annual
Clergy Appreciation Day at the Capitol Monday, March 18. Dr. James Willis,
pastor of North Fayette Baptist Church, and I attended the event almost
by accident. We had not received any legislative invitation, but had
been alerted by Pastor Mamie Harris of the New Generation Christian
Fellowship Church in Griffin. Well, Praise God, we went and were shaking
the welcomed hand of His Honor, The Governor.

Episcopal Church of the Nativity will offer two services on Palm Sunday,
March 24. The Children and Family Service will begin outdoors at 9 a.m.
with the blessing and procession with palms. The 10:30 a.m. traditional
service will begin next door on the front lawn at the Catholic Church
of St. Gabriel. The Catholic and Episcopal congregations will participate
together in the first part of their Palm Sunday service, which includes
a joint procession with palms prior to entering their respective sanctuaries.

It was the longest,
most intense, most impassioned, most exciting and most controversial
political conversation I had ever carried on with one single individual.
Dave's untimely death brought it all to an abrupt halt.

was that rarest of species: a Georgia native
Clayton State [University]
lost a friend last [week]. Dave Hamrick husband of Development/Alumni
Relations Terri Taylor-Hamrick, father of Gabe and Nancy, managing editor
of The Fayette Citizen, former Clayton State interim sports information
director, spelunker and soccer enthusiast died suddenly at the age of
51.

GRTA has offered
$12 million to Fayette County if we pay $1.2 million toward buses we
do not want, will not work and do not need. The point is that the $12
million they are offering to us is our money. It came from our gas tax
dollars, we paid for it and want it back.
