Margaret Mitchell author to sign book By CAROLYN
CARY
The author of "Margaret Mitchell and John Marsh, The Love Story Behind Gone With The Wind," Marianne Walker, will be at the Fayette County Public Library this Saturday, March 23, at 1 p.m. There will be a lecture on gathering the information for the 500-page tome, with a book signing to follow. A Kentucky college professor, Walker spent several years visiting relatives of Marsh, who was from Kentucky. He was the best man at Mitchell's first marriage to "Red" Upshaw. A cruel man, Upshaw left Mitchell in less than a year and was never seen again. Marsh, who had loved her from the first moment he met her, married her and they spent 24 very happy years together. The book will be available for sale at the library and a portion of the proceeds will be given to the Friends of the Library. |
