N. Fayette homeowner group sets meeting The next meeting of the North Fayette Community Association is Tuesday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Country Lakes subdivision's clubhouse. Riverdale resident John Gordon will be the featured speaker. He will discuss his experiences with the predatory lending practice known popularly as "mortgage flipping." Gordon is the housing coordinator for Dekalb County, where his duties include the oversight of activities to deter predatory lending practices. Mortgage fraud is on an alarming increase in the Dekalb area and is beginning to appear throughout the metro Atlanta area. Among the many negative effects of this fraud are depressed home values. Also, Fayette County Commissioner Linda Wells will give a brief advisory on the effects of underground tunneling and blasting associated with sewer development in the Fairburn area. The agenda will also include an update on the planning activities by the county for a new park to be located off Ga. Highway 279 in north Fayette County. The North Fayette Community Association (NFCA) is an alliance of residents and property owners who have joined forces to address issues of concern in the north region of Fayette County. For more information about the upcoming meeting, please contact Nadine Tyft at 770-461-2207. The April 23 NFCA meeting will feature State Sen. Greg Hecht, who will address State Bill 642 concerning juvenile rights in public schools.
