Soccer teams continue streaks as season goes along

The local high school soccer teams keep going full steam ahead through their season. Some teams have continued their winning streaks, while others continued a losing streak.

McIntosh's boys soccer team remained undefeated with a 4-3 overtime win over Clarke Central on Saturday. The Chiefs are now 8-0 and have only given up four goals all season. The McIntosh boys hosted Lassiter last night and will host Lovejoy on Friday at 8 p.m. The Lady Chiefs tied Westminster 0-0 last Friday. They are currently 7-0-1 and have only given up one goal this season. The Lady Chiefs will compete in the Jekyll Island Showcase this Friday and Saturday night.

The Starr's Mill Lady Panthers (6-2-1) faced Centennial last Thursday and won 2-0. Erin Shah and Shelly Wegryzyn scored the goals for Starr's Mill, while Sarah Burke and Lindsey Wegryzyn got the assists. The Lady Panthers have outscored their opponents 58-3 this season. The following night saw the Starr's Mill boys (5-3) defeat Fayette County (5-2) 4-0. The Panthers have allowed four goals this season. Starr's Mill's boys and girls played at Stockbridge last night and will host Evans on Friday.

The Fayette County girls (2-4) played at Spalding last night and will participate in the Newnan Cougar Classic this weekend. They are scheduled to face Oak Mountain, Ala. at 6 p.m on Thursday and Grissom, Ala. at 6 p.m. on Friday. The games will take place at the Whitlock Soccer Complex in Newnan. The boys will also compete in the tournament and will meet Lakeside-DeKalb at 8 p.m. on Friday.

Sandy Creek's boys and girls both lost their second games in a row. The Lady Patriots lost to Woodward Academy 3-1 on Friday and fell to Salem 3-2 on Monday. The boys lost 2-0 to Woodward and lost to Salem, 9-1. The boys and girls played at Westlake last night and will be off until they host Rockdale next Wednesday evening.
