FCHS Sports hall of fame inducts new members

The fourth annual Fayette County High School Sports Hall of Fame banquet saw eight former graduates who excelled in sports inducted into its Hall of Fame. Nearly 200 people attended and also saw three non-sports "distinguished alumni" honored.

Soccer teams continue streaks as season goes along

The local high school soccer teams keep going full steam ahead through their season. Some teams have continued their winning streaks, while others continued a losing streak.

Patriots lose to Panthers and Tigers in Preseason Classic

Starr's Mill has started the season with four straight wins. Their latest win came against the Sandy Creek Patriots in the Fayette Sports Preseason Classic. The Panthers won the game 4-1 thanks to timely hitting and good pitching.

Fayetteville sprinter is first time Masters All-American

Al Gibbs, 39, of Fayetteville was awarded the USA Track and Field masters All-American plaque for the 2001 track season by Milton Campbell, advisor to the USA Track and Field, Georgia Chapter.
