Dogs may soon have place to roam in PTC By JOHN MUNFORD jmunford@TheCitizenNews.com Dog owners in Peachtree City may have a new place for their pets to play in the near future. City Councilman Murray Weed is proposing the city establish a dog park where dogs will be allowed to roam free in a fenced area under the voice command of their owners. "It's a very low-cost, healthful thing," Weed said, arguing that pets are family members, too. Council discussed the idea of creating a special association of dog owners to oversee operations of the facility in the same way that soccer, baseball and other sports associations utilize the city's recreation facilities. "I think it's a great idea," said Councilman Dan Tennant. Last year, council adopted a "pooper scooper" ordinance requiring owners to clean up after their pets in the city's recreation areas and parks.
