Dogs may soon have place to roam in PTC By JOHN MUNFORD
Dog owners in Peachtree City may have a new place for their pets to play in the near future. City Councilman Murray Weed is proposing the city establish a dog park where dogs will be allowed to roam free in a fenced area under the voice command of their owners. "It's a very low-cost, healthful thing," Weed said, arguing that pets are family members, too. Council discussed the idea of creating a special association of dog owners to oversee operations of the facility in the same way that soccer, baseball and other sports associations utilize the city's recreation facilities. "I think it's a great idea," said Councilman Dan Tennant. Last year, council adopted a "pooper scooper" ordinance requiring owners to clean up after their pets in the city's recreation areas and parks. That came about due to complaints from parents about children coming into contact with dog remnants.
