Delta Pilots Charitable Fund Presents $35,000 Donation to 9/11 Disaster Relief Fund

Delta Air Lines pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, recently presented the New York City Central Labor Council (NYCCLC) 9/11 Disaster Relief Fund with a $35,000 donation from the Delta Pilots Charitable Fund. The donation will benefit family members of union workers who lost their lives.

"The Delta pilots are proud to make this donation in recognition of the courageous efforts of fellow union members who lost their lives on 9/11," said Will Buergey, Delta MEC Chairman. "Delta pilots nationwide wanted to show their support for the great City of New York and the hard work of its union workers."

The Delta pilots made their presentation today to New York City Central Labor Council President Brian McLaughlin prior to the NYCCLC Annual Awards Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria.

The Delta Pilots Charitable Fund, supported by individual contributions from members of the Air Line Pilots Association at Delta, supports local charitable activities related to children in select Delta hub cities. The Fund is the first charitable fund established, managed, and funded entirely by the pilots of a major U.S. airline.

The Delta Pilots Charitable Fund includes funds contributed directly from Delta pilots. In order to maximize the value of the contributions, Fund donations are made in select cities where Delta pilots are based or where a large number of Delta pilots reside, including Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Salt Lake City, Miami and Chicago.

The Air Line Pilots Association International (ALPA) is the collective bargaining agent for Delta's 9,600 pilots. Approximately 9,600 pilots at Delta Air Lines are represented by ALPA on issues affecting the pilot group as a whole, including contract negotiations, contract administration and enforcement, and retirement benefits.
