Manson Jones, 86, Riverdale, died Jan. 9, 2009. Services were at Heatherwood Baptist Church, Riverdale, with the Rev. Tim Daugherty, the Rev. Dwight Stallings, and the Rev. Madel Via officiating. Interment was at King Cemetery, Riverdale.

Ernest Patterson

Ernest "Pitty Pat" Patterson, Fayetteville, formerly of Caro, Mich., died Jan. 10, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Roger and Olga Rebecca Kolberg Thornton Patterson. He was graduated from Caro High School in 1953, and was retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service.

Elizabeth G. Estes

Elizabeth G. Estes, 92, Tyrone, died Jan. 11, 2009. She was born Jan. 18, 1916 in Cuthbert, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred W. and Annie Melissa Gay, in 1944 by her husband, Max Doscher, and in 1998 by her husband of 26 years, Chris Estes. Memorial services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel.

David Raymond "Doc" Dalton, 49, Whitesburg, died Dec. 24, 2008. He was born Nov. 12, 1959 in Roswell, N. M. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Penny Dalton. He was a pipe fitter-welder by trade and worked in the commercial and industrial field.

Richard Earl Klopp

Richard Earl Klopp, 79, Newnan, died Dec. 24, 2008. He was born Dec. 14, 1929 in Wichita, Kan., son of the late William Milo and Viola Lamb Klopp.

Ronald A. Arnt

Ronald A. Arnt, Newnan, died Dec. 24, 2008. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam war. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Post #1137, Men's Auxiliary. A Mass of Resurrection was held at St. Matthew Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Dick Morrow, Principal Celebrant. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.

Pauline Baliles Wallace

Pauline Baliles Wallace, 86, Newnan, died Dec. 24, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dessie Thomason Baliles, and her husband, Norman J. Wallace Sr. She was born Sept. 10, 1922 in Fannin County, Ga.

Norman Estes

Norman Estes, 89, Moreland, died Dec. 25, 2008. He was preceded in death his parents, Willie and Nettie Knight Estes, and a son, Eddie Estes. He was born Dec. 1, 1919 in Meriwether County. He was a member of the Bigham Masonic Lodge F&AM in Moreland. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. David Brackman, the Rev. Jerry Eley, and the Rev. Danny Spencer officiating. Interment was at Southview Cemetery, Moreland.

Wallace Glover

Wallace Glover, 60, Newnan, died Dec. 25, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Littleton and Margaret Miller Glover. He was born July 14, 1948 in Newnan. He attended Newnan High School and was graduated from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla. in 1966. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia in 1970, where he was member of Kappa Alpha Order. At the time of his death, he was the owner of Coweta-Fayette Title Group, Inc. His family and his golf game were his passions. He loved coaching his children in soccer, baseball, basketball and golf.

Thomas E. Crissey

Thomas E. Crissey Sr., 78, Sharpsburg, died Dec. 31, 2008. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Crissey Jr. He was born Oct. 5, 1930 in Princess Anne, Md. He was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church. He retired as a Senior Chief with the United States Navy after 22 years of service. Graveside services were at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with theRev. Joe Watson officiating.

Virginia M. LeFevre

Virginia M. "Ginny" LeFevre, 96, Peachtree City, died Dec. 19, 2008. She was born Jan. 1, 1912 in Loundonville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Owen and Dot Hatton McGuire, her husband, Robert A. LeFevre, a son, Thomas O. LeFevre, and brothers, Richard L. McGuire and Charles W. McGuire. She and her husband moved to Peachtree City from Mansfield, Ohio in 1972. She was a retired music teacher at the First Presbyterian Church Kindergarten, Peachtree City, as well as being a 52-year member of the P.E.O. Memorial services will be at the First Presbyterian Church, Peachtree City, on Sat. Feb. 14, 2009 at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. David Miller officiating.

Martha Britton Courington

Martha Britton Courington, 71, Destin, Fla., formerly of Fayetteville, died Dec. 28, 2008. She was born and raised in Washington, D.C. where she graduated from George Washington University. She later earned a master’s and specialist degrees from Georgia State University. She moved to Georgia in 1971 and taught English and later became a school media specialist. She was also a realtor from 1978 to 2003. She was active in Fayetteville First Baptist Church for 32 years and served as adult Sunday School teacher and organist at Bluewater Baptist Church in Niceville, Fla., since 2005. Memorial services were held at Fayetteville First Baptist Church and at Bluewater Baptist Church.

Alice Beryle Vicha

Alice Beryle Vicha, 76, Peachtree City, died Dec. 31, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Charles Vicha Sr. She was also preceded in death by a son, Norman Charles Vicha Jr., who died in a tragic accident in Peachtree City in 2002. She was a trained nurse and later became a dog groomer and breeder of Portuguese Water Dogs. After the death of her son she was instrumental in promoting legislation concerning police chase policies. This law became know as "Chuck's Law" and required police agencies to have plans in place for dealing with pursuits. She was also very strong supporter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. There are no local services being planned.

James Craig Parrish Sr

James Craig Parrish Sr., 64, Fayettevile, died Jan. 2, 2009. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristi Nicole Parrish. He was a veteran of Vietnam and the recipient of two Purple Hearts. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at Sherwood Memorial Park, Jonesboro.

Martha Jane Chapman

Martha Jane Chapman, 90, Stockbridge, died Jan. 2, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Chapman. Graveside services were at Lisbon Baptist Cemetery, Fayetteville.

James Roy McElwaney

James Roy McElwaney, Peachtree City died January 6, 2009. He was a member of Raymac Racing Team and Tyrone Hunting Club. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eual and Myrtis McElwaney and brothers J.L. McElwaney and Ray McElwaney and is survived by his wife, Inell McElwaney of Peachtree City; daughter Charlene Hansard and her husband Wayne of Tyrone; son Jason McElwaney of Peachtree City; grandchildren Levi McElwaney and Christian Kennedy.

Hazel Durrence Strickland

Hazel Durrence "Beamie" Strickland, 91, died Dec. 16, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Dorsey Strickland.

Mary Fricks

Mary Fricks died Dec. 17, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert "Buster" Fricks, and a daughter, Mary Alice Rudisill. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Forest Park.

William Carl Alsmeyer

Dr. William Carl Alsmeyer, 94, Peachtree City, died Dec. 20, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Athene Tava Alsmeyer, his parents, William Ernst and Florence Inez Alsmeyer, and a brother, Ralph Alsmeyer. He was a Ph.D. structural engineer and was a 37 year employee of Leo A. Daly Company. He had lived and worked on every continent except Antarctica. He was a world traveler, inventor of great things, a professor, a scholar and a gentleman. Memorial services were at Ashley Glenn Assisted Living, Peachtree City, with Pastor Miriam Beecher officiating.

Lois Jean Baker, 75, Fayetteville, died Dec. 23, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Cora McCoy Elkins, one brother, and four sisters.

Gladys Porter

Gladys Porter, 96, Fayetteville, died Dec. 28, 2008. She was retired from General Foods, Maxwell House Division. Graveside services were at Jones Memorial Cemetery, Forest Park, with the Rev. Candy Thacker officiating. Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Vincent "Big-V" Barnes, Newnan, died Dec. 3, 2008. He was bon Feb.11. 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the youngest son. He lived with his parents in Newnan since 1993.

Linnie B. Strozier Murray, 75, Newnan, died Dec. 12, 2008. She was born Dec. 24, 1932 in Carroll County. She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Cora Phillips Strozier, her husband, Julius Murray, whom she married in 1960, a sister, Willie Ruth Strozier, and a niece, Helen Davis.

Dorothy Causey Berry

Dorothy "Dot" Causey Berry, 79, Newnan, died Dec. 18, 2008. She was born Feb. 8, 1929 in Headland, Ala., to the late Oren Marvette and Mabel Morgan Causey. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newnan. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Paterson officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Carol Maffucci Citrano

Carol Maffucci Citrano, 69, Newnan, died Dec. 21, 2008. She was born May 15, 1939 in Brooklyn, N. Y., to the late Thomas and Rose Maffucci. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church. A funeral mass was held with the Rev. Father Austin Fogarty officiating.

John Anthony Drage

John Anthony Drage, 42, Peachtree City, died Nov. 22, 2008. He was born Oct. 10, 1966 in Chicago, Ill. Services were at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, Oak Lawn, Ill., and a me morial service was held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Newnan, with Pastor Mary Peters officiating.

Margaret Wise Daniel

Margaret Wise Daniel, 94, Fayetteville, died Dec. 18, 2008. She was born May 2, 1914 in Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Walter and Cora Betts Wise, brothers, Walter Wise Jr., and George Wise, and a sister, Olivia Wise Galbraith, and her husband, the Rev. J. Cecil Daniel, who died in 1968. She was the paternal granddaughter of a Confederate soldier, Lt. George E. Wise, and the paternal daughter and granddaughter of representatives to the Georgia Legislature. Her father was the first representative to both the state and national legislature who actually lived in the county.
