Margaret Wise Daniel, 94, Fayetteville, died Dec. 18, 2008. She was born May 2, 1914 in Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Walter and Cora Betts Wise, brothers, Walter Wise Jr., and George Wise, and a sister, Olivia Wise Galbraith, and her husband, the Rev. J. Cecil Daniel, who died in 1968. She was the paternal granddaughter of a Confederate soldier, Lt. George E. Wise, and the paternal daughter and granddaughter of representatives to the Georgia Legislature. Her father was the first representative to both the state and national legislature who actually lived in the county. She was graduated from Fayette County High School, and Bessie Tift College. She got her master's degree from George W. Peabody College for Teachers. She taught at LaFayette, Ga., with Clayton W. Peacock, who had been her school principal in Fayette County from third through the tenth grades. She taught at her Alma Mater, Bessie Tift College for two years and then became promotional secretary at First Baptist Church, Atlanta. She had been with the church nine years when she married the Rev. J. Cecil Daniel, pastor of Fortified Hills Baptist Church, Atlanta. They were there until his retirement in 1963 and two years later moved into her Wise family home in Fayetteville. She worked for over 16 years with the Fayette County Department of Family and Children's Services. She was an active member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Services were at the Overton Chapel, First Baptist Church of Fayetteville and interment was with family members at the McDonough City Cemetery. Survivors include daughters, May Margrett and John Ware, Memphis, Tenn., Ann and Joe Carlino, Sue Ellen and Mike Gable, and Coralyn and Bill Liscinski, all of Fayetteville; and 10 grandchildren. Memorial donations may be given to The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, 3001 Mercer University Dr., Atlanta, GA 30341 or the Fayetteville First Baptist Church, 205 Stonewall Ave., E., Fayetteville, GA 30214.
