Dr. John David Blanchard, 61, Fayetteville, died Sept. 1, 2008. He had served for two years as a captain in the United States Army.

Howard Donald Nordlund, 91, Peachtree City, died Aug. 31, 2008. Memorial services will be Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at 2 p.m.

Erma Powers Taylor, Hampton, formerly of Fayetteville, died Aug. 30, 2008. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed life, friends, and family.

Elmer Hilton Harden, 92, Sharpsburg, died Aug. 24, 2008. He was retired from Delta Airlines with 35 years of service. Services were at the First Baptist Church of Peachtree City with the Rev. Dr. Steve Bingham officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park.

Dorothy Buffington Hughie Smith, 89, Sharpsburg, died Aug. 29, 2008. She was born Oct. 27, 1918 in Earle, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sara Pogue Buffington, her first husband, Henry L. Hughie, her second husband, William R. Smith, and two brothers. She was a member of East Newnan Baptist Church.Memorial services were at McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Frank Powers and the Rev. Pat Latta officiating.

Montine Bell Caldwell Todd, 92, Senoia, died Aug. 30, 2008.in St. Marys, Ga. She was born Nov. 19, 1915 in Hall County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Molly Young Bell, her first husband, Elbert E. Caldwell Sr., a son, Elbert Eugene "Bert" Caldwell, and a grandson, Tim Caldwell.

Fred Henry Adamson, 57, Sharpsburg, died Aug. 30, 2008. He was born March 9, 1961 to the late W. C. and Lucile Banks Adamson. He was a 1970 graduate of East Coweta High School and a lifelong resident of Sharpsburg. He enjoyed cooking, growing flowers, and entertaining friends at the "Old House" home place. Two of his favorite events were the dove season opening breakfast and the Halloween hayride party.

John M. Ellis Jr., 89, Fayetteville, died Aug. 29, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Rosa Ellis Sr.

Virginia Jo Miller, Fayetteville, died Aug. 28, 2008. She was born March 15, 1927 in Harrison, Tenn. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Raymond Sagon.

Archie Teate, 79, Valdosta, formerly of Fairburn, died Aug. 26, 2008. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Alan Teate, his first wife, Doris T.

Ann B. Nation, 70, Griffin, formerly of Riverdale, died Aug. 25, 2008. She was born Feb. 10, 1938 in Fayette County, daughter of Edgar L.

Madjorie Slaton Thompson, 99, Tyrone, died Aug. 24, 2008. She was born Aug. 7, 1909 in Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Egbert E.

Roger A. Richards, Peachtree City, died Aug. 23, 2008. He was born and raised in Hampden County, Maine. He was retired from the town of Agawam as maintenance foreman.

Dorayne C. Raine, Peachtree City, died Aug. 22, 2008. There were no local services. Survivors include children, Susan Raine and Pamela Lowry, both of Peachtree City, James Raine, Tempe, Ariz., and Patricia Raine, Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Oliver G. Rainwater, 91, Union City, died Aug. 23, 2008. He was a lifelong resident of Fulton County, a member of the East Point First Baptist Church for 59 years, and a Mason for over 50 years.

John N. Pontius Jr., Fayetteville, died Aug. 22, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 23, 1931 in Butler, Pa.

Lucille Bernard Westbrook, 96, Union City, formerly of Augusta, died Aug. 21, 2008. She was born in Iradell County, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Daisy Campbell Barnard, brothers, William Barnard, Royal Barnard, and a son, David Curtis Westbrook, and sisters, Ethel Brewer, Nella Barnard, and Helen Bell.

The Rev. David Black, 69, Fayetteville, died Aug. 21, 2008. He was born Aug. 16, 1939 in Cairo, W. Va. He had served the Jackson and Fellowship Presbyterian Church, Jackson, Ga., and the Fayette Presbyterian Church, from which he retired in 1999.

Henry Lamar Twilley, 56, Fayetteville, died Aug. 17, 2008. He was preceded in death by his mother, Muriel Brannum Twilley, a sister, Helen Jane Graffco, and a nephew, Randy Gaynes.

Gary Bright, 54, Newnan, died Aug. 17, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur John Bright Sr. He was an employee of Coca-Cola Company for 18 years, where he served as an account install coordinator.

Captain Victor Ayers, United States Air Force retired, Peachtree City, died Aug. 17, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Ayers, and a son, Victor Felix Ayers III.

Helen Virginia Lauramore, 86, Fayetteville, died Aug. 16, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Lauramore, and brother, Carl Koontz.

Marion Oslin Ridenhour Jr., 60, Senoia, died Aug. 12, 2008. He was born Dec. 8, 1947 in Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Oslin Ridenhour Sr. He had resided in Coweta County for over 30 years. He had worked for Delta Air Lines as a Terminal Maintenance Manager for 37 years. He was an active member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church where he served as finance chair, deacon chair, a member of the choir and also as a Sunday School teacher. He had served as the President and Lieutenant Governor for the Optimist Club of Senoia. Memorial services were at the Sharpsburg Baptist Church with Pastor Wallace McAbee officiating.

Dexter R. Noble Sr., Senoia, died Aug. 13, 2008. Services were at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Whitewater Ward, with Bishop Stebar officiating. Interment was at Berea Cemetery, Hampton, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Judy Noble, Senoia; children, Mark and Teresa Noble, Huntsville, Ala., Ron Noble Jr., Buford, Roger and Donna Noble, Peachtree City, Allison Vickers, and Christy Smith, both of Senoia, and Rob and Amy Noble, Lithonia; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed Noble, Chamblee; a nephew, Michael Noble; and a niece, Cindy Coker.

Donna McCue, 76, Peachtree City, died Aug. 15, 2008. She was born Nov. 16, 1931 in Aliquippa, Pa. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a strong Christian with a kind heart.

Mary Kathleen Storm, 86, Newnan, died Aug. 16, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lamont Storm, and a son, James Q. Storm. She was a charter member of Bethsaida Church in Riverdale, and had been a member of Community Baptist Church in Griffin.

Ira Dorsey Knott, 92, Newnan, died Aug. 17, 2008. He was born in Carroll County and had been employed with Bonnell retiring with 29 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. "Bud" and Lena Lynch Knott.

Gary Bright, 54, Newnan, died Aug. 17, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur John Bright Sr. He was an employee of Coca-Cola Company for 18 years, where he served as an account install coordinator. A gathering in his honor was at McKoon Funeral Home chapel.

Mark L. Skaggs, 49, Newnan, died Aug. 18, 2008. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Skaggs. Services were at Crossroads Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Adams officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Skaggs, Newnan; children, Rachel Skaggs, and Patrick Orman-Scaggs; and parents, Leon and Eunice Skaggs, Missouri.

Bernice Jones Jackson, age 86, of Peachtree City, GA, died on Aug 4, 2008. She was born August 28, 1921 in Memphis, TN and lived in southern California for many years.
