He was a 1989 graduate of Newnan High School where he was a member of the baseball team. He was a longtime sheet metal mechanic with Delta Airlines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Sidney and Julia Adel Stapler Gann Burnham, and a brother, Byron Gann. He was associated with Owens Corning as a quality assurance manager for 37 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Ross and Myrtie Tecora Jenkins Turner, and her husband, John Thomas Childers Jr., to whom she had been married for 69 years and who preceded her in death by only 59 days. Lloyd, 81, Rome, pastor of Tyrone Baptist Church in the 1970s, died July 27, 2008. He was born in Floyd County Feb. Lurline Mitchell ScottLurline Mitchell Scott, 98, Griffin, died July 23, 2008. She was born Sept. 24, 1909 in Greene County, Ark. She was preceded in death by per parents, Murray Lee and Odelle Yopp Mitchell, her husband, James Dudley Scott, a son, James Scott, a brother, Murray Lee Mitchell Jr., and sister, Flossie Mitchell. Robert Edward Carter Sr.Robert Edward Carter Sr., 77, Newnan, died July 21, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mae Bell Kidston Carter. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Cook and the Rev. Jeff Smith officiating. Interment was at Forest lawn Memorial Park, Newnan. Survivors include his children, Kenneth J. and Teresa Carter, Robert E. and Judy Carter Jr., and Jane and Marcus Schrichte; his former wife and mother of the children, Irene A. Carter, Atlanta; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Judy McMichael MappJudy McMichael Mapp, 91, Newnan, died July 22, 2008. She was born April 30, 1917 in Newnan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Luther and Eudora Hendrix McMichael, and her husband, Alvin Ace Mapp, in 1984. Prior to her retirement she had been employed by several local companies as a secretary and records keeper. She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church. Tommie Ann Bell JonesTommie Ann Bell Jones, 50, Luthersville, died July 26, 2008. She was born Aug. 23, 1957. She was preceded in death by her father, James Walker Bell, and a brother, Brad Bell, in April, 2007. Until her illness, she was employed by Charter Communications as a dispatcher. Mary Horton BurnhamMary Horton Burnham, 86, Sargent, died July 26, 2008. She was born June 24, 1922, daughter of the late Robert Jehile and Lorena Dale Horton. She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings, her husband, Joe Nelson Burnham, in 2000, and a son-in-law, David Clark. She had worked in the textile mills for most of her life, and was a long-time and devoted member of Sargent Baptist Church. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Bob Atkins and the Rev. Stacy Stafford officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan. Suellen Rinesmith AdamsSuellen Rinesmith Adams, 57, Hampton, died July 27, 2008. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Moreland First Baptist Church. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Searcy Jackson and the Rev. Daniel Ausbun officiating. Interment was at Southview Cemetery, Moreland.
