Mildred Jean Turner Childers, 90, Fayetteville, died July 30, 2008. She was born April 28, 1918 I Fork Shoals, S.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Ross and Myrtie Tecora Jenkins Turner, and her husband, John Thomas Childers Jr., to whom she had been married for 69 years and who preceded her in death by only 59 days. She had been a dedicated teacher at McCants Elementary School in Columbia, S.C., for over 30 years. She and her husband were members of College Place United Methodist Church in Columbia for more than 40 years. Services were at the Cannon Funeral Home chapel, Fountain Inn, S. C. Interment was at the Cannon Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Childers and Williams A. Beck, Fayetteville; grandsons, Brian and Anne Beckwith, Chicago, Thomas Beckwith, Fayetteville, and Stephen Beckwith, Atlanta; great-granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Beckwith, Chicago; a brother, Clarence Ross and Anne Turner Jr., Fayetteville; and caregiver, Nancy Calhoun, Fayetteville. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice Advantage, 101 Yorktown Dr, Fayetteville, GA 30214. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. login to post comments |
