Forrest Grady Strickland, 82, Sharpsburg, formerly of East Point, died July 31, 2008. He was born June 9, 1926 to the late Forrest A. and Bernice Weldon Strickland. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Faye Strickland, and a daughter, Toni Strickland. He was graduated from Russell High School in 1944 and then served in the United States Air Corps in the South Pacific in World War II. He retired with 34 years as a lineman with Georgia Power Company. He was a member of the Atlanta Yaraab Temple and a founding member of the South Fulton Shrine Club. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Chuck Chambers officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include a son, Forrest A. "Buster" Strickland II, Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Wendi Leigh Haislip, Eddie Haislip, and Forrest A. "Cliff" Strickland; great-grandchildren, Cassie Marie Varnes and John Varnes; great-great-grandchild Hannah Haislip; brothers, David and Edna Strickland, and Howell and Janice Strickland, all of Fayetteville, and Daniel and Linda Strickland, Milton; and sisters, Marion Evans, Fairview, N.C., and Delores Morris, Angie Byrd, and Rachel Bishop, all of Fayetteville. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. login to post comments |
