Trevor Phillip Lorber

Trevor Phillip Lorber, 23, Peachtree City, died July 2, 2008. He was a graduate of Starr's Mill High School and the Savannah College of Art & Design. He was employed by Rhythm and Hues Studio in Los Angeles, Calif. He did extensive work on Alvin and the Chipmunks and on The Incredible Hulk as a visual effects artist. He was also a member of MENSA. Memorial services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley chapel.

Joseph Ryan "Joey" Doolittle

Joseph Ryan "Joey" Doolittle, 9, Newnan, died July 4, 2008. He had a long and heroic battle with cancer from the age of 3 months. He was an inspiration to many and even though the cancer spread throughout his body, he was thinking of other sick children. He founded a charitable organization call "Joey's Toy Box" in order to provide toys to other children who battle cancer. His legacy will live on through his good works.

Sara Williams Banks

Sara Williams Banks, Palmetto, formerly of College Park, died July 5, 2008. She was a member of the McDonough Road Baptist Church. Graveside services were at the College Park City Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Kelly and the Rev. James W. Kennedy officiating. Survivors include a son, Ed and Ann Williams, Peachtree City; a daughter, Kathi G. Brown, Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Sullivan

Kenneth Sullivan, Fayetteville, died July 5, 2008. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot. He had a successful career as a corporate executive in the computer industry. He most recently worked with Servigistics in Atlanta. He enjoyed fishing and boating. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Avis Robards Melear

Avis Robards Melear, 95, Newnan, died July 6, 2008. She was born Sept. 14, 1912 in Coweta County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jefferson and Missouri Brown Robards, and her husband, M. Lester Melear. They owned and operated Melear's Restaurant in Newnan for 58 years until retiring in Dec. 2001. Each morning she began cooking biscuits at 4 a.m. and opened the restaurant at 5 a.m. She remained there all day until closing at 9 pm. While she cooked the biscuits, her husband cooked the barbeque.

Pollyanna Prather "Polly" Hammond

Pollyanna Prather "Polly" Hammond, 87, Newnan, died July 8, 2008. She was born Jan. 16,1921 in Newnan, daughter of the late William Edwin Prather and Pollye Bridges McKoon. She received her education in the Newnan public schools and later attended Georgia State College for Women at Milledgeville, as well as Draughn's Business School. She was a life-long member of Newnan Central Baptist Church. She loved activities that occupied the mind and was an avid reader and duplicate bridge player. Among her talents were painting, singing, and cooking for family gatherings.

Bernice Conley

Bernice "Nannie" Conley, 74, Fayetteville, died July 7, 2008 after a battle with Alzheimer's. She was born March 7, 1934 in Cumming.

Devan Abercrombie

Devan "Tig" Abercrombie, Fayetteville, died July 5, 2008 due to a severe head trauma sustained in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 28, 2008.

Donald Charles "Chad" Clifton

Donald Charles "Chad" Clifton, 33, Fayetteville, died June 25, 2008 at the Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was born Nov. 27, 1974 in Newnan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Sarah Clifton, and Blake Armstrong. He grew up in Newnan and was a member of the Newnan First Baptist Church. He was a 1993 graduate of Newnan High School, and a member of its 1991 State Championship baseball team. He was graduated from LaGrange College in 1997, where he played on the baseball team. He was an avid WERA motorcycle racer, a control rider, and a Yamaha enthusiast.

Sarah Brewer Cochran, 89, Newnan, died June 25, 2008. She was born Feb. 6, 1919 in Atlanta, daughter of Roy and Cleo Duncan Brewer. She was retired with 21 years of service as a secretary at the Atlanta Public School System, and was a member of East Newnan Baptist Church. Memorial services were at East Newnan Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat Latta and the Rev. Frank Powers officiating.

Roser Dale "R. D." Jones

Roser Dale "R. D." Jones, 82, Fayetteville, formerly of Fairburn, died June 26, 2008. He was born Oct. 18, 1925 in Fayette County, son of Julius and Addie Slaton Jones. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Shaw Jones, sons R. D. "Rocky" Jones Jr., and Joseph T. "Joey" Jones, and a sister, Joyce Jones.Graveside services were held at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn, with the Rev. Dr. George Dillard officiating.

James "Jimmy" F. White

James "Jimmy" F. White, 83, Fayetteville, died July 1, 2008. He was born Jan. 22, 1925 in Fayette County, son of the late George Oliver and Elizabeth Dewey Jones White. He served as Fayette County Probate Judge from 1960 to 1992. Services were July 3, 2008 at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with Marshall Gill officiating. Interment was at Flat Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
