Alvin A. ShureDr. Alvin A. Shure, 93, Peachtree City, died July 19, 2008. He was born on Oct. 10, 1914 in Yonkers, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirlyan Goldberg Shure, whom he married Aug. Constance HodoConstance Hodo, 49, Newnan, died June 20,2008. She was born Nov. 13, 1958. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Inez Hodo, and a brother. She was a member of The Old Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church and attended school in Coweta County, graduating from Newnan High School in 1977. Services were at Old Mount Bethlehem Baptist Church with interment at Eastview Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Vercardo Hodo; a brother, Melvin Hodo; uncles and aunts, Harvey and Pauline Brooks, Tommy and Leola Arnold, and Sanford and Cornelia Cousins, Alice Tooley, and Sarah Hodo. Charles ConnallyCharles Connally, 69, Palmetto, died June 23, 2008. He was born Oct. 6, 1938 in Coweta County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hosea and Mattie Connally, of whom he was their 11th child, brothers, Porter, Bob, Oliver, James, Hosea, and sisters, Edith Alice Mary, and Sylvia. He was a member of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver. He raced cars in his early age, and his favorite sport was wrestling. Services were at the Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home chapel with interment at Floral Hill Cemetery, Palmetto. Chanda Nicole TaylorChanda Nicole Taylor, 35, died June 26, 2008, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born July 7, 1972 in Newnan. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Lee. She was educated in the Coweta County schools and was graduated from Newnan High School in June, 1990. Growing up she was active with the Girls Scouts of American, 4-H, O. P. Evans band, the Gifted Program, Jr. Varsity Cheerleading Squad, a participant in the Governor's Honors Program, Keywanettes, Beta Club, Debate Team, and volunteer for the Young Democrats of America. Antonio LaVernn "Tone" Sims IIAntonio LaVernn "Tone" Sims II, 15, Newnan, died July 10, 2008. He was born April 22, 1993 in Saginaw, Mich. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ora lee Johnson, grandfathers, Joel Seay and James C. Sims, and an uncle, Solomon Lee. He was a member of Faith By Hearing Christian Center, and Word of Faith International Ministries Children's Church. He was a bright and shining star and enjoyed spending time on the computer, and cooking. He attended Northgate High School where he ran track and was a member of the Jr. ROTC program. He also participated in the Fulton County Junior District Attorney's program. Memorial services were at Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home chapel. Helen Brimer CouchHelen Brimer Couch, 83, Newnan, died July 10, 2008. She was born Oct. 5, 1924 in Coweta County. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Couch, in 2000, and parents, Maynard and Clara Brown Brimer. She was retired from Bonnell and also was a greeter a Wal-Mart. She was a member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church and was always involved in the music ministry of the church. Ron Clayton "Smitty" SmithRon Clayton "Smitty" Smith, 77, died July 10, 2008. He was born Jan. 26, 1931 in Bibb County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tarleton Marvin and Elizabeth Sanders Smith, and a daughter, Patti Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. His professional career was with BellSouth and he was retired as a systems technician. He was a dedicated Member of Westside Baptist Church. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Melvin Payne officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Merdene Charlie ZbindenMerdene Charlie Zbinden, 76, Fayetteville, died July 14, 2008. She was born Dec. 6, 1931 in Clayton County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Sally Oakes and the Rev. Sammy Orr officiating. Interment was at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. Ethel Moore ShellEthel Moore Shell, 98, Senoia, the oldest resident in Senoia, died July 16, 2008. She was born Oct. 2, 1909 in Pike County. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at the Senoia City Cemetery. Catherine H. ButlerCatherine H. Butler, 88, Fayetteville, died July 16, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude P. Butler, sons, James T. Butler, and Carlton Butler, grandchildren, Billy White and Anthony Harris, and a sister, Elise Dupree. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. John Joseph "Jack" ThompsonJohn Joseph "Jack" Thompson, 81, Senoia, died July 18, 2008. He was born Sept. 16, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio, one of nine children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Peg" Walton Thompson, parents, Edward Franklin and Evelyn O'Bear Thompson, and children, Michael Kevin Thompson, and Patricia Jean Reduto. He served in the Sea Bees in the United States Navy in the Pacific campaign during World War II. He was a great storyteller. He provided for his family working with Duncan Edwards Co., as a sales representative, selling industrial hardware. Jonathan David KeyesJonathan David Keyes, 13, Fayetteville, died July 19, 2008.
